Edeno actually fibroids?

I was diagnosed with edeno in February by an ob/gyn. I had never heard of such a thing before that time. Since then I have "waited it out" to see if the pain would subside (it has-sort of) but the bleeding/oozing goes on 12-15 days of my 22 day cycle. This is worrisome because I supposedly don't have an endometrium having had an oblation 7 years ago. Endometrial biopsy came back neg. Saw another doctor last week for a physical and she almost laughed at me when I told her what the ob/gyn said. She said edenomyosis IS fibroids. Have any of you heard that this is true before? Sometimes I think doctors are just a bunch of quacks who don't really know much of anything about we females. makes it difficult to trust my body to them and to even think of going through with a hyst unless my life depends on it!

Edeno actually fibroids?

Hi there!

I have never heard of adeno being referred to that way. My understanding is that adeno is endometriosis within the uterine muscle tissue and cannot truly be confirmed until after surgery.

One thing I do know is that I believe one must be very comfortable with her surgeon before undergoing hysterectomy or any other major surgery. If you are not feeling confident with this DR, I think you might serve yourself well by seeking one you do feel that confidence with. There are some wonderful DRs out there.

My best wishes to you as this journey begins; please let us know how things progress for you.

Edeno actually fibroids?

I'm with Toonces on this one...

Adeno isn't the same condition as fibroids - it can cause the uterus to have a similar appearance externally, but adeno cannot truly be diagnosed until removal and pathology testing.

Big s to you - you're going to be just fine

Edeno actually fibroids?

Hi Koryn

Just wanted to pop in and let you know that i was diagnosed with adeno following my TAH/Burch. I did not have fibroids. I think they are two totally different conditions.

Hope this helps
