I'm Home! No more uteris, cervix, left ovary, left tubes,&appendix.

Well I'm home 2 days after my TAH possible BSO. Doc took my uteris, cervix, left ovary, left tubes & appendix. I had no idea he was going to take my appendix, but he says everytime he sees one, he takes it because it only does you harm and has no purpose. I had a fibroid on my left ovary, so he took it. I now have one ovary left. No symptoms of old ladyness yet. Just trying to walk with a straight back! Very difficult. Also have some numbness in my upper right leg. Nurse said that's because they had to pin the nerves back to perform the operation. Gross! I can't stand hearing about that kind of stuff. Not feeling too well right now, so I will post more later. Just took a pain med and eyes are seeing doouubbllee.

I really love you all for helping me through this.

By the way, no bm or gas passed yet. Wahhhh!

Hi Sheila and welcome to the Post-Op side!

I'm glad to hear that things went well. Remember to get lots of rest. Frequent short and lots to may help with the gas and getting your bowels moving. WHen I was post-op, my Dr. had me take stool softeners twice a day. If you don't get any "action" soon in that department, please give your Dr. a call to see what you should do to help.

Since you were able to keep one ovary, you may not experience symptoms from surgical menopause. I hope that is the case for you. If you do begin to experience symptoms, again ask your Dr. and perhaps some short term HRT may be in order.

Best wishes and s
