did you have omentectomy with your surgery?

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well. I just had TAH/BSO/omentectomy/appendectomy for endo ca stage 1a. I am finding it is unusual to have the omentum (fat pad around the guts) removed for this, and there are complications so now I am freaking out. Yes, a bit late... I would dearly love to hear from someone who also has had this and how you are doing. Thanks so much. Judymk

s Judy

I believe that removing the omentum is part of the debulking surgery for ovarian cancer, but I am not certain. If it is routine, I don't have one anymore. Sorry to hear you are having problems. What are the symptoms you ar experiencing?

I had an omenectomy with my staging surgery for ovarian cancer. It's pretty rountine I think because it is often where the cancer will spread. It's a primitive fat pad that was meant to protect our insides if we were gored by a sabre toothed tiger or somthing like that. At least that's what the oncologist said. I never knew I had it and I don't miss it. What kind of complications are you having?
