New Here - Desperate for Help

I'm new and need help. I've been reading the threads. I have yet to have a Dr. test my hormone levels. I have had 7 since my operation. I had a total hyst. in 93 and been living in hades since. I have had estratest, estrogen, proestrogin?. I went natural and did the herbal, soy, everything on the store shelf. Right now I am on nothing, for 11 months now. Procter & Gamble wanted to test women with no libido, I called and was disqualified because I had been taking DHEA.

I have not felt like a woman since the operation. My poor hubby has suffered through it all. What bothers me the most is that I remember how I used to be, how I felt. I could suffer through the hot flashes, night sweats, everything just to have the sex back.

Everyone told me how great it would be after. No worries, no periods, etc. Doctor said I would be a new woman and would be chasing after my husband. I feel like I was lied to, used.

Got put on anti-depressants. I would cry all the time and even considered suicide a couple of times. I really don't want to continue like this, I really don't think I can. The doctors all say it's in my head or other stupid things. Well, when I wanted sex ALL the time, why wasn't that in my head.

Sorry, getting carried away. I'm on the verge of tears now. I just want to scream. My husband has been so patient and understanding, but that can't last forever. I wish I had never done it. I know I can't go back, but how do I fix it. I'm so tired of doctors.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I just want help, please.

Sundew,
Wow, I wish I could fix things for you....What I can do is offer you some direction and assure you that things can and will get better with the right help from the right medical professionals.
The first thing you have to do is educate yourself, and I believe that you have come to the right place. Read through the hormone jungle and keep asking questions until you have a better understanding of all this. Knowledge will be your key to becoming your own advocate for your healthcare.
Besides educating yourself I think you need to find a doctor who you can work with. You need someone who will listen to you, and work with you until you are feeling better. I really think the best place to look for a doctor who understands hormones is to start with a compounding pharmacist. The compouning pharmacist will know which doctors in your area are educated, caring and openminded about hormone replacement. Here is a link to start you off. http://www.iacprx.org/ You can go to this website and type in your zip code to find local compounding pharmacies. If I were you I would call more than one and then pick one based on how easy they are to talk to. A compounding pharmacist will also be part of your health care team providing custom made prescriptions of your hormones...most of us use a compounding pharmacist for something, and they can also be your liason between you and your doctor.
I hope this helps some and I will be anxious to hear how you are doing. I am glad you found us, remember that we are here for you

SUNDEW...THE SURGERY HAS NOT BEEN A PICNIC FOR ME EITHER.ALOT OF WOMEN GET DEPRESSED AFTER THIS SURGERY HAS MY PERSONAL OPINION IS HORMONES AFFECT ALOT IN A WOMEN AN NOT BEING ON HORMONES CAN MAKE IT WORST. MY SURGEON TOLD ME WHEN I WASNT FEELING WELL THAT IT WAS ALL IN MY HEAD AN FINALLY I WENT TO A FEMALE OB/ENDOCRINOLOGIST AN SHE SAID IT WAS NO WONDER I DIDNT FEEL WELL AS MY ESTROGEN LEVEL WAS 40. I THINK A FEMALE OB /ENDOCRINOLOGIST MAYBE A CONSIDERATION AN LIKE BECKY SAID A COMPOUNDING PHARMACIST MAY BE ABLE TO HELP YOU LOCATE A GOOD DR. IT MAY BE HELPFUL IN THAT YOU HAVENT BEEN ON ANYTHING AS YOU CAN START FROM SCRATCH . AS FAR AS LIBIDO A COMPOUNDED TESTOSTERONE CREAM WORKS WELL.I WISH TO THAT MY DR. HAD BEEN ALOT MORE HONEST ABOUT THIS SURGERY ALSO BUT IM SURE IN THE LONG RUN WE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE...TAKE CARE AN DONT HESITATE TO E MAIL ME ANYTIME...TINA

sundew: As Becky stated, there is so much help available out there. And knowledge is power. Start doing some research on the net. I agree, the Drs. greatly oversell and underplay this surgery. Oh, just give her some pills. Well, we can't undo the deeds of the past. As you will see by the posts here, the answer will probably be bio-identicals, or compounded hormones. I see you've tried progestin, not the same as natural progesterone. You will have to educate yourself, so you know what to ask for.
