Added Testosterone to HTR ?
About 2 weeks ago my dr switched me from Estratest HS to Triest/Progest 1.25/50 & I was feeling almost normal except for the sleepy feeling all the time. Well last Friday he added Testosterone 0.2% & I have been having hot flash after hot flash and just feeling all drug out. Is this normal when adding a new hormone? I have not sex drive & never have so he thought this might help. The reason he took me off the Estratest was I was staying dizzy & my eyes were drying out. So what do you think should I just x the Testosterone or give it a little more time.
Thanks,
Shannon

Added Testosterone to HTR ?
Hi Shannon
estratest contains a relatively low dose of a mixture of non-bioidentical estrogens and some testosterone. The triest/progest is a mixture of the three bioidentical estrogens plus progesterone. Switching should have brought some relief to your dry eyes. The sleepiness could have been a symptom of too much progesterone. When he added testosterone, that may have resulted in too high a testosterone level in addition to too much progesterone, and probably wasn't necessary (your body can make testosterone from progesterone). Some symptoms of high testosterone are acne and irritability. Did your DR test your hormone levels before you switched? Or since?
The hot flashes can be a symptom of imbalance in any direction, or just your system's reaction to the change. They may stop, but they may not if you have an imbalance. I'd recommend talking with your DR about them, maybe asking to have your levels checked before making any further changes. It's really best to change only one thing at a time and to wait a few weeks after each change to give it a chance to level out... and of course to keep a journal of everything you do and how it makes you feel, since it's easy to forget and end up walking around in circles in this !
Good luck and s,
-Linda

Added Testosterone to HTR ?
I had my estrogen cked b/4 I started the triest. I was a 105 so this is what the compound pharmacy mixed up. Like I said last week I felt pretty good but Sat hit with hot flash after hot flash. I had not been sleeping well until I started the triest/progest combo sleep was good not night sweats. But Sat & Sun I woke up several time with night sweats. I really dont want to have to use the testosterone if I dont have to.
Thanks,
Shannon
