Hi, everyone.

I only discovered this site a couple of days ago & it is fabulous! Thanks to all of you who care enough to offer advice & the benefit of your experience post-op.

I read somewhere in this site about the benefits of a girdle post-op. I am assuming this is for use AFTER staples/stitches have been removed & you are on the road to healing? If anyone could go into a bit of detail about that it would be very much appreciated! (a particular type, size considerations, etc.). Haven't worn any type of girdle since I was in junior high & first began to wear hose;-0 (LOL that was a while ago!)

Hi again Mongie! I feel like we are becoming friends!

I had also read about the girdle offering support and it made some sense to me. But - I didn't have one and because I'm overweight I didn't really want to go out and get one. Plus - I thought it would be hard on the tummy muscles to struggle into it each day!

I wear brief panties (some call them granny panties) anyway - and bought a few pairs a size or two larger to accomidate swelly belly. As it turned out - I didn't like them. I liked my normal briefs because they did offer some support - much like a lightweight girdle would. Now - I didn't want to wear regular pants, I bless the man or woman who invented elastic waist pants! - but the regular panties to offer support and felt good.

Just my experience but hope it helps!

P.S. Did you check out the chat room yet??? (LOL)

Hi, Mary Sue

Someone else said a girdle would only weaken the muscles & make them lazy over time. So, think I will pass.

Bought some granny panties today (just 3 pair) not sure I will like them.

Yes, I have been in the chat room twice today & once, briefly, last evening. It certainly moves right along when there are many in the room. I feel a bit intimidated by it, but know I will get the hang of it & enjoy it particularly after surgery. The ladies are very kind & quick to answer. Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I will wonder in there when you are in sometime.

Take care,
