care packages for health care workers?

Hi-
I have read from all the princesses that they recomend care packages for the nurses for taking care of LIW- does anyone have any ideas about what to put in them?

Do you do one big one or individual packages- and if you do individual ones how many did you make?

Sorry to be so dense but I am in so much pain seems like I can not even perform the simplest task.

Thanks in advanced for your help

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I'm sorry that you are having so much pain right now.

There have been several threads in the past few months mentioning "goody" baskets for the nursing staff. Please don't feel that it is something that you have to do - it's just that some of the ladies have brought a basket filled with little candies , mints, etc. and have had the basket available for the nurses to help themselves.

Here's a link to one of the threads: https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...ighlight=goody

If you do a search (little purple button at top right of the page) on goody or on basket, you'll find several more.

care packages for health care workers?

I didn't really feel good enough before my surgery to go hunting for a special basket and I didn't like any of the ones I had tucked away ---- so I just took one of the medium size disposable containers (Glad or Ziplock) and put several kinds of individually wrapped candies in. Creme Savers, Miniture hersheys, kisses, rootbeer barrels and butterscotch, Hersheys with almonds, etc.

It looked so good that I made a "refill" sack out of a gallon size Ziplock bag and gave it to my husband to keep for me. I wanted him to have a little something while he was waiting and then I put the rest in my bag and kept the bowl refilled.

I had this lovely counter in my room with a sink and cupboards - almost like a kitchen. It was the maternity floor and it was one of the Lying-in rooms where mothers and babies stay together. I kept the bowl on the counter so that everyone would know it was to share and not just my private stash!

something for everyone

In my "goody basket" we included little bags of goldfish crackers, some fruit, candy, and a small bag of sugarless candy. We wanted to make sure there was something for everyone.

The first day we had the basket in my room, but none of the staff took any of it. We did try and tell everyone who came in that it was for them, but still no luck. So, on one of my walks I decided to walk it down to the nurses station. I figured maybe they would be more comfortable enjoying the goodies if it was there. By the next day it was pretty much empty! I guess they didn't want watchful eyes!

I too read about the care packages/baskets for the healthcare workers at the hospital, and thought it was such a great idea!! And when I gave them out post op, they really were so very appreciated. I bought some small-ish gift bags, and put candy, some nice bath salts/shower gel/lotion .. that kind of thing, in them. Plus, since my surgery was in October, I put a couple of little Halloween-themed things from the dollar store in there.
