endo biopsy, pap, clear, CT scan today worried about results would you be?

Hi all I had a pap and biopsy a week or so ago, my dr. thought I had a malignant tumor that had prolapsed in my vagina. It was/is leaking fluid. Today, 10 days later from my original visit, I had a ct scan. I am scared stiff for my phone to ring with bad news. I'm scheduled for TAH/possible BSO on thursday the 26th. I'm so worried and frightened. HELP! I take xanax as needed for my extreme anxiety, have had that for 15 years, so nothing new, just gets worse with STRESSSSSSSS.

s Karma

The CAT scan will give additional information not necessarily picked up by your PAP or endo biopsy. This time of waiting for unknown results is just the pits.
Are you seeing a gyn oncologist? If the CAT scan shows anything suspicious, it is so important for you to see a gyn onc. They are the experts for gyn cancer surgery and treatment.
Best wishes to you. Please keep in touch. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Waiting for that phone call is the worst. I have had many anxiety ridden days and nights waiting. I have to have a CT scan next week and I am already anxious. Believe me it is normal to worry. Best of luck for good results!

thanks

I don't know how you brave ladies handle this. The ups and downs are about to drive me insane. My gyn already told me, if i had cancer that he would refer me to an onc/gyn. Hope he takes somebody with no insurance and very limited funds. If my ct is clear then I'll be back to obsessing about the surgery on thursday. can't win.

Best Wishes for 9/26

The CT scan will give your doctors a better picture of what may or may not be going on. It's good that you have the option of a gyn/onc if it does appear there could be cancer--they're the gold standard. I agree waiting is the worst--I did not get my CT scan results before my surgery (thankfully--it would've shown mets) nor did I have the CA125 (except that it was "elevated") and I think that kept me more sane. The worry is perfectly normal as is increased stress just before a test and waiting for the results. I have bloodwork/doctor/chemo on 10/1 and I already am getting somewhat nervous about it as I look at the calendar. The walk down the hall from the waiting room to the exam room for the doctor to come in is miles long... We all understand. I have my results "in person" vs. calling so far but I think calling is coming. Let us know what the results are and if it's a "go" for 9/26 or postponed for a gyn/onc. We'll be waiting with you.

Karma, I'm Not Really a Brave Person

So many people say we're "brave." Speaking only for myself, I'm a very nervous, shaky person who's had many a panic attack over this, many a sleepless night, many a tear, and a few big crying jags. I don't think I'm brave--just a very ordinary person who puts one foot ahead of the other and goes on with this journey, sometimes happily, sometimes in fear, but trying to help others along the way. I know even the most brave of us have had our moments. You'd be amazed how many of us see a social worker or psychologist and how many are on medication to assist us. (Wish I could get one that would work without paradoxical side effects.) Now--let's all pray for a GOOD CT showing nothing and a GOOD hysterectomy, good recovery.

Karma,

I think you just have to reassure yourself that no matter what you are doing the best you can to help yourself and seek the best care.

Many gyn oncs are closely affiliated with major medical centers with residency training programs. Sometimes these places are mroe receptive to people without insurance than local community hospitals.

Let us know your test results, OK?

I love you ladies!

I just got off the phone with my dr.'s nurse who read me my ct results over the phone, everything normal except for enlarged cervix and uterus which was to be expected I guess because of the fibroid. Now....ON to obsessing about the surgery! I will never ever forget the wonderful support I've received here you are all like old friends. I wish you all good health, good check-ups and long happy lives. Thank you so much.

thank you so much for your post, it seems hard to find people with panic and anxiety going through this stuff. It means a lot to me to find someone that can identify with the intense feelings panic disorder brings. good health to you!
