not sleeping

It's been a while since I posted I've been from Dr to Dr and treatment to treatment. I had a partial hyst and now am undergoing radiation treaments. What I am wondering is when will I sleep. The doctors have suggested anti depressants but in the past I was put on them after delivery for post partum depression. I had terrible headaches and anxiety from 4 different kinds of meds. They tried combos of meds and using them singularly but with the same results. Luckily the post partum only lasted 4 months or less with 2 kids. I'm tired when I get up in the morning from no sleep and crash in the afternoon around 11 or 12 but can't fall asleep. I go to bed around 10:30 or 11 am lie there for hours before finally falling asleep. I can't take heavy sleep meds because my youngest child gets night terrors and needs help through them. My husband tries to help but he gets up at 4 am and often sleeps through our sons yelling. If I take anything too heavy I can't wake up in the am. I have no help and there is no one to ask for help with our 3 kids. Any ideas of sleep help would be appreciated. I've tried bendryl, over the counter aides and melatonin all with no luck. No caffeine here either. Thanks Michele

re: sleep

Hi Michele,

I have had the same problem, I had a tvh/bso 7/22/02, and have had problems sleeping since. I can lay there for hours and not fall asleep. During the day as well, if I'm tired, which I am I'll try to take a nap and I just lay there. My doctor gave me restoril which works for me. I sleep and don't feel that heavy feeling in the morning. I don't feel like it knocks me out cold to where I couldn't wakeup if needed, like with your child with the night terrors. You might ask your doctor about it. My next step is going to be to try some progesterone cream and see if that works because I know I can't stay on the sleeping meds forever.

Well take care and God Bless
