Anyone have younger children?

I'm not young... not compared to your girls I'm 46. However, my children are rather young: my DS is 11 1/2, he was 9 1/2 when I had my surgery. My DD is 6 1/2, she turned 5 the day I came home from the castle.

You'll see that, between the very young women who are having hysts, and those who, like me, got started late having children, there quite a few of us with pre-school and school-aged children.

I remember that it wasn't easy dealing with the problems that led to the surgery and with young, demanding children (my DS has ADHD and is very high needs). It wasn't easy either dealing with the surgery and very young children.

My goes out to you, ladies.

Anyone have younger children?

Hi Ladies -

I'm no youngster, but I have an adopted baby (6 months) a 3 1/2 year old and a 7 and 11. Nuts? As soon as the baby starts crawling, my problem will be keeping my older kids from howling as the baby pulls out the computer cord.....

I've found electronic toys with LOTS of buttons that do lots of different things at random are great for entertaining toddlers. I have a sound-and-phonics thing I picked up at a yard sale. Each letter makes a sound and names a picture. Then there are buttons for songs, days of the week, etc. I would give it to my kids so I could work or surf for a few minutes. The trick is to hide it in between so it's always new.

I wouldn't buy a new one, but it might be worth looking at a yard sale or asking neighbors with older kids for similar toys they've outgrown.

Anyone have younger children?

Hey girls!

I have a 3yrand10mos boy, and a 15mos girl. I about strangled them today- dh is out of town for a week, and I've about had it. They were also very sweet this evening, and made me laugh quite a bit. Who'd have thought motherhood would be so bi-polar!!! (Winking at all my "lithium-friends") Anyway, it's nice to connect with you all!

How do you get an active 3 1/2 year old to obey- things like not standing on the sofa, giving people personal space, following simple directions????
