TAH/BSO for ovarian cancer none but found cervical ca

I had went to a doctor for painful periods and exxxessive bleeding about two months ago. He did pelvic and ordered an ultrasound. I also decided to get mammogram same day as ultrasound. Went for ultrasound, found out that I had huge mass on right ovary. I guess they thought that it may be cancer so they decided to do a CA-125. It came back at 235.
He sets me up an appointment with an GYN/ONC. I had surgery on sept. 12, 2002. No ovarian cancer. Yeah!!! Well the following monday the doctor calls and says that (paraphrasing)" You may have dodged one bullet but the other nicked you" In other words she told me that I had cervical cancer. I still have a couple of weeks to go till I see her again for the followup and to find out what is going to happen and when. I do know that I will be on Chemo and radiation treatment. Please pray that 1) I don't get tooooooooo siiiiccckkkk, with the chemo and radiation. & 2) That I come out of this alive and kicking.
Love & Blessings to all

Jane

Welcome to Hystersisters and the Cancer Concerns forum. I'm so glad you found us here.

I didn't have cervical cancer but there are several ladies who have dealt with it who I'm sure will be along shortly to share their experiences with you. I did undergo chemotherapy for Ovarian cancer so if I can be of any assistance or share what I experienced with you just give a holler, I'll try my best to help how I can.

I hope your visit goes well and hopefully you won't end up having to do both treatment options (maybe, maybe???). Keep us posted on how things go when you can.

s Jane

Welcome to Cancer Concerns. There are many ladies on this site who have been through radiation and/or chemotherapy. We are all more than happy to share our experiences with you. I'm glad to hear your surgery was performed by a gyn oncologist. They are truly the experts.
You will survive this treatment and hopefully without feeling too poorly.
The new anti nausea medications they use work wonderfully.
After your next followup visit, please stop back and give us the particulars.
That way we'll be better able to share our own experiences.
In the meantime, we are always here to share encouragement, cyber hugs and support.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Jane,

I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I am a cervical cancer hystersister, and I had chemo and radiation (following my surgery). Please let me know if you have specific questions or concerns, and I (and the other cervical cancer sisters) will try to help if we can. Let us know what treatment you will be having and pop in here when you can -- I learned a lot early on just from reading other people's posts and questions. It is so helpful to hear that others have been through this and come out on the other side!

Hi Jane.. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis but glad that you came to the right place. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in April 2002, had a hysteretomy, and 6 treatments of chemo... taxol and carboplatin. my ca125 number before the treatments was 454..It is now 11. We a very strong willed women who are out to beat this thing. We will control it... It will not control us!! Good luck and keep us informed with everything.

(((Jane)))

I just wanted to add my 's to those above. Wow--what an interesting situation you have found yourself in. To think you had one cancer, found out you didn't (hooray!), but then to hear you had another variety of it. Thank goodness it was found when it was, though!

I want to wish you the very best of luck as you are preparing to start your treatments. I did not have any treatment since my condition was not invasive. But please know that I will be thinking of you often. Please come by and post whenever you feel the need. We are open 24/7!

Here's another for good measure.
