Curry helps suppress tumor growth (study)

I figure this is in the can't hurt category. This was a study done with cancer cells in a test tube.

A chemical in curry (curcumin found in the turmeric spice) may suppress a protein that increases the growth of tumors.

Tumor cells produce high levels of interleukin-8, but curcumin stopped both the production of interleukin-8 and it's ability to cause inflammation. Interleukin-8 also seems to be bad for the immune system, so curcumin helps the immune system fight back too.

Curcumin might also help heal wounds, fight Alzheimer's, and fight multiple sclerosis. So go eat that Indian and Thai food.

I sure hope this helps my sisters.

Hiya Trish!

Thanks for the great info, very interesting.

I was wondering if this study mentioned any particular type(s) of cells or was it more general in scope??? Now I'm very curious and may even have to figure out how to cook to incorporate it.

Thanks for sharing more great info!
