Thumbs up - Some helpful tips to help you with your Hysterectomy Some helpful tips to help you with your Hysterectomy

Hello all my Sisters,

This site has been very helpful for me, as I faced my hysterectomy, and I had so much fear and apprehension! I wanted to share some helpful tips and other things that helped me, so that hopefully, it will help you!

I just went through a total hysterectomy, on 12-11-17. I was diagnosed with Grade 1 endometrial cancer. I really didn't have any symptoms, except for occasional spotting. But I had a new Ob/Gyn, and she caught it on my first examination. I'm so grateful to her! But I was so afraid, after receiving that diagnosis of CANCER - it was surreal, and scary. And they scheduled my surgery so quickly, I hardly had time to process anything.

But here is what helped me:

It was difficult, but I worked on changing my Fear into Faith. I tried to view the surgery as a GOOD thing. It will take out the problem! I visualized myself being strong going into the surgery, the surgery going perfectly, and then having a quick recovery.

Here is a meditation "Metta" that really helped me. I changed the wording to fit my surgical situation. I practiced it every day, as many times as I could. It really helped calm me down, and changed my attitude.

"The surgery is Safety.
The surgery will remove Danger.
The surgery will bring Peace of Mind.
The surgery will bring Physical Health.
The surgery will prevent future suffering."

Doing this meditation can actually shift the feelings inside you, and help you to welcome the surgery, rather than fear it.

I had a robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy. That was a week ago, and today, I am doing great. I still have to meet with my surgeon on 12-27, to find out what the pathology report will say. But I am hoping for the best.

Please don't worry yourself about your upcoming surgery. Believe that the surgery will HELP you, the problem will be taken out, and you will go on with your life!

Lots of good energy and good wishes to all of you.

Bev :-)
