Lucinda.Jones's daVinci Robotic Hysterectomy Story

daVinci Robotic Hysterectomy
Age at Surgery 58
Location: Central IL

I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer after 10 months of spotting. GYN NP/MD attempted x2 in the office for endometrial biopsy without success. Had a D&C with hysteroscopy in May 2017 then +biopsy report one week later. Hysterectomy August 2, 2017.

I had general anesthesia, no issues with nausea, vomiting, went home the next day. I had very little pain easily handles with ibuprofen.

My recovery was incredibly easy. I had a very active job and returned to work in 8 days. I took pain meds x72 hours but needed nothing after that.

My health has been fine since surgery. I did have a blow out with the Gyn-Onc MD and chose not to see him further. I contacted my primary care provider (who I hadn't seen in >10 years) and he refused to follow me. I did contact my GYN MD who initially refused to see me for follow up also but when I contacted him a second time he agreed.

I have not been getting the scheduled follow-up (every 3 months for 3 years then every 6 months for 2 more years) but that is my choice.

My surgery was not elective as I had confirmed cancer. I never ever would have had any surgery if I had a choice and in fact did delay surgery in search of a second opinion. I would never advise hysterectomy except for cancer but again that is my opinion.
