Incisional hernia repair - anyone with personal experience to share?

Hi !

Another "sister" and I are scheduled for incisional hernia repairs. Jennifer's is on Oct. 31 and mine is on Nov. 7. We would love to hear from other "sisters" who have been through this. If you have and are willing to share, please post your experiences. Jennifer and I are eager to hear from you. Thanks.

Thanks Jennifer. I will check it right now. I saw your post on Margaret's question. I just bumped it back up. Hopefully someone will come along. I also emailed Ritzcracker. I saw that you had asked her about her experience, but she didn't respond. Maybe I will hear something from the email. If so, I will let you know.

Incisional hernia repair - anyone with personal experience to share?

Hi Jennifer,

I just got a response to my email to Ritzcracker. It is very encouraging. If you would like to contact me by email, my address is [email protected]. I hesitate to post her reply here since I contacted her privately. But basically she was in the hospital for 3 nights. Her surgery was a month ago today and she is returning to her secretarial position in a high school tomorrow.

Well I guess I am lucky. EVeryone is talking about the go lightly and stuff. I called back my surgeon today to ask specifically because no one not even the hospital at pre admit, said I needed even an enema. Well the doctors office said i don't have to do anything. Strange but I guess I am glad. The nurse said however, if I was disappointed she could right me orders for it. Ha ha.

HERNIA REPAIR

HI I HAD HERNIA REPAIR 4/02 AND I HAVE BEEN IN CONSTANT PAIN SINCE MY SURGEN HAS SENT ME TO PAIN MANAGEMENT AND THAT DR. SAID THAT I HAVE NERVE DAMAGE FROM THE HERNIA REPAIR. WHEN YOU HAVE A HERNIA IT IS USUALLY FIXED WITH MESH AND THAT CAN DO NERVE DAMAGE. BEFORE YOUR SURGERY MAYBE YOU SHOULD ASK YOUR ABOUT WHAT HE IS USING TO FIX YOUR HERNIA.
I HOPE EVERY THING GOES GREAT FOR YOU LADIES. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION FEEL FREE TO :email: [email protected] my name is kim ME AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO HELP YOU.

Kim, thank you for taking the time to post even as you go back in for the nerve block. I really do appreciate your concern. I ray: that all went well today and that you are finally getting some relief.

When you are feeling better can you let us know if preparing your home for hernia surgery is similar to the home prep for the hyst. ? Should we have pillows, etc. ? Thanks.

incisional hernia repair

I also had to have an incisional hernia repaired l week ago. When I first noticed it, I saw that my stomach was lop-sided and when I felt my stomach, it felt like a golf ball sticking out but when I would lay down flat, it went away. My surgeon repaired the tear in the stomach lining and inserted some mesh and I go back to work tomorrow. I had some pain the first few days but now it so much better. I just hope my stomach will get a little flatter in a few weeks because I know it is swollen from the surgery. I am going to behave myself so this will heal up.

Good luck on your surgery.
