Upcoming hysterectomy 6/26: Horrible, horrible period after biopsy

I am actually very concerned. My biopsy brought my period on a week early, and it is very heavy. I mean using 2 pads, and drenching through them in like 3 hours. It doesnt seem to be slowing, and I am on day 4. I did get my results back, and I have polyps. Nothing uncommon, or too dangerous. I have chronic anemia, and I am just hoping my hemoglobin domt go down so far that I am not able to have the surgery.

Re: Horrible, horrible period after biopsy

you should call your dr. and see what he wants you to do. you don't want surgery delayed because of anemia. there may be something he can give you to stop/slow down your bleeding.

Re: Horrible, horrible period after biopsy

I agree with calling your doctor. At the time I had my biopsy, the nurse had to clean large clots off the carpet (why carpets in an ob/gyn office???) Anyways he gave me a prescription of Norethindrone to stop the bleeding. I was to take two per day until the bleeding stops and then one per day after. What a relief it was when the bleeding actually stopped within two days. By the third day, I actually went padless for the first time in months. I felt "Naked" and free. So yes, call your doctor, there is probably something out there he can give you that will work for your situation.

Thanks all. After blacking out my husband took me to the ED. My uterus did not like the invasion from the biopsy. They gave me fluids, and luckily I only dropped one point in my hemoglobin. Usually 10 and I went down to 9. Still ok for surgery, and all is well. My poor husband, all he could say is "I cant wait for the end to the regular hospital visits." All I have to say to that is..."Last one!" This is my final period before my freedom. Thank you all for being so understanding. For once, I do not feel like a burden.
