Return to Work?

Hello Sisters,

I have a a question about returning to work......

When I scheduled my TAH w/bladder and other repairs, my Dr. said I should plan on 3 weeks out.... I am a Clinical Medical Assistant to a GYN, I stand by his side and help him treat patients, so my workday is spent on my feet. I work part time, but the days can run long depending on patient load. We have 2 long days, potential 12 hour days, and one half-day a week as he is semi-retired. So, this week upcoming, I was thinking of working 2 half days on Wed. and Thur. I think I can do it. I actually am feeling good, apart from the belly(stitches area)discomfort. And I will have the chance to take short sit-down breaks.

The problem is that on Mon. Nov 4, I have my 1-month post op check, and I expect that I will be cleared to return to work, and instead of jumping back to work full-time, I want to ease back into it. I am not on any kind of disability, so I would really like to start earning again.

Any experiences from sisters who returned to light duty after 3 1/2 weeks?? Any advice or opinion appreciated......

Return to Work?

At my 3 1/2 wk point there was no was I could have stood for that long. I still had to take a nap once in a while. I felt good, I just got soooo... tired during the day.
I'm at my 5 wk point now and I plan to return to work Monday. I'm keeping all my evenings clear next week and I'm preparing meals for next week this week-end. I figure I'll really need to rest in the evenings. Hope there's good TV next week!

Return to Work?

Angela,

I have one word for you girl.......NO

You know we share surgery dates and as I sit here (with lots of pain and soreness still) I am thinking you must still be suffering the effects of pain meds!!! Wake up, go and get a glass of water, go back to bed and then re-read your post. I think it is a little scary!!!
