Help!! Is this part of it??

I am 11 days post-op (TAH/LSO) and I am feeling so aggitated that I could climb the walls!! All I want to do is rest....but that's another thing....I'm having trouble sleeping....and wanting to eat everything in the house. To be honest, it feels like a severe case of PMS! My next appointment with gyn is 11/7, so I called the office anyway and was told she won't be back in until Thursday and to give my GP a call since I take Effexor and Elavil for anxiety anyway. GP's office said they might need me to be seen. WHY?!?! It isn't something you can see! There attitude makes me frustrated and even more aggitated. Am waiting for a call back, but any advice from you sisters would be greatly appreciated in the meantime. TIA!

Help!! Is this part of it??

I remember feeling agitated and having trouble sleeping. It went on till my doctor upped my dose of premarin from .625 to 1.25. I'm back down to .625 now that I'm in my 6th month.

Of course I don't know if you are having the same problem as I did, but a lot of women seem to go through a similar stage.

Here's a hug till they get back to you.

Help!! Is this part of it??

I ate non-stop for a few days at about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks post op. Everything in site and had cravings like I was pregnant! I had bad mood swings. One day I about killed our cat. All he wanted was lovin', but I just picked him up off my lap by his neck and threw him into the other room! Oh My! I also could not stand to talk to my mother. No matter what she said, it irritated me SO BAD! So, upon my mother's insistance, I called the doctor. She put me on an anti-depressant called Celexa which helps with Serotonin (sp?) levels in your brain. Hormones affect the serotonin. I felt much better and back to my usual self. I have cut them back a little because I went from sleeping a little less than normal to sleeping 16 hours a day straight. So far so good. Has your DR called back yet?

Help!! Is this part of it??

Hello vbjacks5

I'm finding that "everything" is a part of it. Sleeping too much, not sleeping at all. Eating everything to no appetite. Fears, anxiety, crying, lack of energy, cabin fever, name it and it's a part of "THIS".

Gosh what a bummer, huh?

Help!! Is this part of it??

Vicki,
hey sister.......first of all, you're normal. I can't sleep...not even w/Ambien...not even w/Ambien on top of the 300 mg of Serequel I take every night for anxiety. What's wild is that usually, 200 mg of Serequel by itself knock me into the world of la la. We cry, we get restless, we get anxious, it's all a part of IT, just like KatyK said. Maybe your Dr. just wants to change your anxiety meds, I wouldn't be too anxious over it, sweet girl...I know, that's easier said than done.....let us know what happens, ok?

You're not in this alone, Sister!

Still frustrated

Thanks to everyone that responded so quickly!! My GP had his NP call back (read somewhere that was a sign it was time to change Drs.) Anyway she said that sometimes one ovary does not produce enough hormone and there is a blood test that will tell. She wanted me to come in tomorrow and have the test ran. WELL.....my gyn has plans to start me on Lupron on 11/7 which suppresses hormones so I don't think she would want me adding a hormone she intends to supress. Seems counterproductive if you ask me! Arrrrgggggghhh! Am I doomed to be like this forever???? I am so frustrated!!!!!

BTW...I take Effexor which is an antidepressant and have for a year now.

Help!! Is this part of it??

We had our surgeries at about the same time. My doctor warned me that even though I still had my ovaries, to expect them to be a little shocked at first, and to expect not to feel "quite right" at first. I have gone from someone who stuck to a diet for FOURTEEN MONTHS and lost 100 pounds, to having a dinner tonight of fried chicken livers, fried onion rings, pumpernickel pretzels, and a half a bag of hershey kisses as I sit here tonight at after 1 am. I have had insomnia all my life, so I'm not too worried about that part. I will get my eating straightened out after my recovery. Just going to keep an eye on myself, and let the doc. know about it all at my 6 week appointment. So I guess we all are a little "different" for a while. Remember, your body has been through a big change.
