Another Update:

First, Thank you to all my sisters here, ur support means soooooooo much to me !!

well i saw my Gyn Dr today who had a copy of the pathology report and was able to go over what was found

on the surface of my right ovary and my left ovary they found more borderline serous implants, and also on the left part of the outter surface of the uterus

they also found borderline implants on the Peritoneal

from what i understand now that means they took 2 samples of the inner liner of my body and the cells were found on both area's so my gyn said it is his professional opinion that he is 99.9% sure my Oncologist will suggest 1 course of chemotherapy

now im scared, even tho its just borderline, and its not on any major organs, just the fact it was found on 2 places of my inner liner of my body means it could be all over my inner liner, there is no way to tell, the thought of chemo scares me too, maybe ive seen too much tv, i dunno

i tried to get a hold of my Oncologist when i got home but of course he wasnt in the office yet. Now i know what he wanted to talk to me about in 4 weeks

my DH is totally stressed out over this and im trying to keep cool, in fact its alot easier to type all this then speak it from my mouth

to everyone im so glad this site and all of u are here !!

I know this is frightening to you, but things really will be okay.
Please refresh my memory about something. Was it your gyn doc or the gyn oncologist who performed your surgery? Can't you possibly get in to see the gyn onc sooner than a month?
The Johns Hopkins web site has an excellent area with info about low malignant potential or borderline ovarian cancer. I feel certain if you read this you will be assured of your long future.
If the onc decides chemo is needed, you are in the right place for support, advice and hugs. You can do it!!! And we'll be with you all the way!
There are a few of us on this site that have been through it and we love to share our experiences.
Keep in touch.

Ksses update on borderline ovca

it was both the gyn and the oncologist who performed the surgery

now my Oncologist just called me back and i mentioned what my gyn said about the chemo and the oncologist said no, its not needed, and there isnt anything else i can do

i asked how am i going to know if it spread, he said there is no way of knowng, no way of knowing anything and that all i can do is see my gyn yearly still and follow that visit up with the oncologist 6 months later

also he said its a stage 3

does this make sense ??

for all ur support and thank u for making it a new toic karenann !

Ksses update on borderline ovca

Hi again Ksses

I went and found that borderline area on the Hopkins web site. It can be hard to dig up. Looks to me like your onc doc is right on the money.

There is nothing in this site that will frighten you. And you will feel relief upon reading it. Guaranteed.

Thanks karenann,

I called my gyn right away to ask him and he spoke to the Oncologist and all was explained to me and i had a big "SIGH" of relief

course the DH is still worried, and doesnt understand

i guess just the way the Onc said nothing to be done and that was it, no explanation, worried me, but i feel alot better now

for everything !!

You can always get more info to help you settle and feel more comfrtable. There is a gyn pathologist at Hopkins who is an international specialist in borderline ov ca (and ov ca in general). There are all sorts of subtypes many of which have excellent prognosis.

You can have your pathology redone by him. You do not need to travel, and you (your doc) will get back a second path opinion which can be very helpful in determining the correct follow-up for borderlines.

Email me if you want the specific info

That site is a bit difficult to get used to. That's why I tried to send you the address for the Borderline info specifically. Other than that, just keep playing around with. Look for their homepage and go from there. But realize most of that info does not apply to your situation.
