Upcoming Jan hysterectomy: Donut cushions recommendations needed (hysterectomy; cystocele, rectocele, hernia repairs)
Hi, I will be having my hysterectomy upcoming January 2019. I will be having uterus and ovaries removed by Da Vinci along with adhesion removal and small intestine hernia correction. At the same time, cystocele and rectocele repair and a fix for stress incontinence. My doctor said that I will be very sore and sitting might be challenging and recommended I get a donut cushion, does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you

Hi there! You are having a lot done! Don't get a donut, it put pressure on your repairs. Get a soft, squishy pillow you can sit on. I also found sitting on one cheek helped. Have ice packs ready for the swelling tissues. I used wet/ frozen sanitary pads which I put on the outside of my underwear.
Best wishes on your surgery.

The frozen sanitary pads are an amazing idea! I totally forgot that I did that after I had my kids! Thank you!

Just my opinion, but I don't care for donut cushions. Obviously a lot of people do like them because they're used so much. A donut doesn't really support the injured spot. It lets the injured spot just "hang" there with nothing under it and your body organs on top of it pressing down.
I found that sitting on a soft cushion was most comfortable. On hard chairs just sit a little lopsided. And if sitting in general makes you sore it's ok to like down for a while to take the weight off.
For what it's worth, i found my a&p repair recovery much less painful than childbirth recovery. My first childbirth experience was quite damaging.
