GP said the dreaded "S" word............

Hi ladies !!

I went to my GP today for a couple of things & one of them was my lower back pain. It is getting so bad that some times in the morning its EXCRUCIATING just to try to get out of bed. I have been trying to ignore it & hope that it would just go away. No such luck. I'm also having really bad sciatica pain on the right side. Soooooo - dr. says I need to go to a neurosurgeon - that did NOT make my day  She said I shouldnt be feeling this much pain, especially since I'm on MS Contin (morphine) twice a day. Gosh, I can only imagine what it would be like if I wasnt on the MS
So I will call the neurosurgeon tommorrow - I just couldnt bring myself to do it today. I sometimes wonder if things are EVER going to get better for me. You guys know what I mean - its like its always something. Just let me have a little cheese with my whine.........
Thanks for listening to me complain I'll let you all know what happens.

Susan do you prefer camembert or brie with that whine? Sweetie you can whine here any time. Back pain can be sooooo hard to figure out and it can make it hard just to get through the day. I'm glad your GP is admitting he can't help and sending you to someone who maybe can. I hope the neurosurgeon will have some good ideas for you. We want you to feel better, whatever that takes.... you have been through enough of this. We'll be with you all the way!

Oh Susan... I hate to hear this! I'm sure you remember the whining I did with my ruptured disc, so you go right ahead! I hope that it doesn't come down to surgery. I was scared to death of having mine, so I kept waiting and waiting...after 7 months it has finally eased off. I still have to be really careful when doing certain things though.

Hang in there, and let us know what the NS says, and PLEASE be careful what you do in the meantime!

Thanks girls !!

I'm going to call the Neurosurgeon in a little while, 6 yr. old DD is home today from school with a cold. Hey- sounds like a good reason to put off calling the surgeon
Dont know if I told you guys, but an MRI a few months ago showed I had a disc bulge & arthritis in my spine. And whats driving me crazy is I cant seem to figure out what I might be doing to make the pain worse. And I cant help but wonder if its possibly "deferred" pain from my pelvic pain
I have had 9 surgeries (3 were c-sections) & I just DO NOT relish the idea of another one. OK - here I go whining again............ BTW Linda - I preferr Lorraine swiss
Thanks to all of you for being there for me - I know I can always count on my sisters ((((((((hugs))))))))

yeah but just think of how much better you may feel if they can fix it for you......it's worth going for the consultation anyways right and seeing what they say? I don't think a bulging disc is anything to mess around with....

let us know what they say and whine away......that's what we're all here for and god knows I've done my share lately

Susan - I'm so very sorry Hon! I know you hate calling yet another doctor. I will put it off for days and make up every excuse in the book, but you sound as though you need some answers for your back pain - OUCH! I wonder too about the deferred pain you mentioned since my GYN told me my adhesion issues could cause pain under my ribs. I guess it is very possible that it could be deferred pain - another thing to ask your doctor about I suppose.

Anyway, as hard as it may be, please do make the call to your doctor and get some relief. I hope your DD is feeling better too!

Many 's

Susan,
Don't put off that call. It won't hurt anything to go and talk to the neuro doc. Perhaps it will be something that is fixable without the "S" word. You won't know if you don't call. Now pick up that phone!

(((Susan))),
I'm sorry to hear about your back pain I too have several problems with my back. My Orthopedist said that abdominal scar tissue can attach itself to certain areas and cause severe low back pain, so your theory is feasible. They seem to think this is part of my problem as well. Also FMS will cause back problems. Were you ever dx with Fibro, I'm sorry I cant remember. Big ((hugs)), please call that Dr and let us know how it goes....

Thanks girls for the 's & the encouragement !!
I was a good girl today & I called the neurosurgeon & made the app. They cant get me in till Dec. 17 but have me on they're cancellation list. They told me to have my GP fax them a copy of the report from the MRI I had done of my spine about 2 mo. ago. I have to do that tommorrow.
Sheri - no, I havent been dx with Fibro (yet). Gosh, I feel like I can only take on one problem at a time here My neurologist & my ortho dr. both said that it is a distinct possibility that I have fibro.
Kim - how are ya doing ? I hope you are doing well & are being a good Princess !
So thats my update for now - in the meantime I guess the heating pad (actually I have 2) will remain my best freind , LOL

(((((((Hugs))))))) to all

Susan
