delay or reprieve?

I was supposed to go for my radiation set up today, but my rad/onc just called. He had spoken with my surgeon who fears the radiation will cause another intestinal blockage and have to be stopped for surgery. He said that the cancer and my intestinal problems are two seperate conditions which must be treated concurrently. The rad/onc said he will call me back later after talking to my other dr's. He said perhaps I should have the pet scan before anything is done, but what will the PEt tell them that last weeks CT didn't? It is frustrating because I want the treatments over and done, but i am having a nice day with my family today, trying just to focus on that.

delay or reprieve?

Huge s Debbie

I am so sorry everything has been so complicated for you. Getting on with the treatment has been your greatest desire since your original surgery.
You certainly are a patient woman with a great positive attitude.
I hope the radiologist onc gets to talk with your doctors soon and that they come up with a unified decision.
In the meantime, I, like you, would view it as a reprieve. Enjoy this beautiful autumn and your family.
You are always in my thoughts and prayers.

delay or reprieve?

(((Debbie)))

I'll use my old standby saying: "I'm sure there's a reason for this" in the big picture of things. It's kind of nice that your docs will be meeting to discuss the best treatment options for you. You would hate to get part way into this and then have to stop. Better that they try to anticipate as many things as they can and plan accordingly. In the meantime, enjoy the reprieve!
