Silly Question

Hi ladies,,
I was wondering if it makes any difference if you sleep on your sides or stomach. I slept on my back for a week after surgery. Started sleeping on my sides and now my right side hurts all the time...any relation to this?
Love this site!!!!!

Silly Question

Miracle,

First of all, there's no such thing as silly questions around here. If someone hasn't asked it, they've thought it, so everything's fair game and A-okay!

Second, I don't know that it matters, or if it casues any damage, except...if it makes you hurt, you probably shouldn't do it yet. My belly hurt if I tried sleeping on my side for the first 3 weeks. So I quit trying and waited. After that it was still a little sore, but actually began to feel better in the side postion than on the back.

I've heard ladies say that a body pillow helped them sleep on their sides and tummies. For me the pillow made it worse. I think we're all different.

Sleeping positions

I slept on my side from day one as it was more comfortable than on my back but I always have a small pillow under the knee so that it's supported and not going all the way over to the bed. Sometimes I slept with another small pillow just tucked next to my tummy which helped keep it supported too.

Basically, if it hurts then it's not a good position

regards
Xaviera

Silly Question

At 6 weeks post, I am just now able to sleep on either side with some amount of comfort. There have been a couple of times when I have slept a portion of the night on my side, having rolled in my sleep, and woke up extra sore. I feel sure there is a correlation.

As Xaviera says, "if it hurts it is a bad position".

Good luck!

Silly Question

"if it hurts it's a bad position" I think we should have body pillows with that embroidered on the side in bold letters. My trouble is still finding a good position. I'm great during the day, but wish I could sort of lean up against something and sleep standing up sometimes. And I sure do miss lying on my stomach. Between the monster fibroids pre-op and now this, I wonder sometimes if I ever will again.

Thanks.....

Thank you for all your answers...I just have a terrible time sleeping on my back! I was concerned though since things are now moving around filling in different spots if it made any difference as far as healing.....
