Pre Cancer

Hi everyone,
I found out Oct. 11, That I have Pre cancer cells on my cervice, I am going to have a LAVH on 11-27-02, The lab tech said it was too close to call, that it could be cancer in anywhere from a month to six months. That has me more scared than having the LAVH. I am really afraid that things might not go well. And that they can miss some cells or something. I need all the help and support I can get right now.

Pre Cancer

Hi Renee!

I'm so sorry you're having this scare. Anytime Cancer or PRE Cancer is mentioned, it IS a scary thing.

You might want to consider getting a consult with a Gyn Oncologist. As this is their specialty, they might be able to give you some addition information and may be able to ease some of your fears.

I wish you the best for your surgery and hope that it is swift and uneventful. Please keep us posted on how things go for you.

{{hugs}}

Pre Cancer

Hi Renee,

For support you've come to the right place! It is very good news that your doc says the cells are precancerous, but of course it is still very scary to hear the "c" word. Sounds like you and your doctor are on top of things, and that you have luckily caught the problem at a very early stage where the prognosis is excellent. Are you having the surgery done by your gyn or have you seen a gyn/oncologist? A gyn/onc consult may ease your fears a bit. Best of luck with your surgery.

Pre Cancer

You are right, it is very scary when you hear precancer. I am scheduled for TAH because of precancerous endometrium cells (I thought I was just having a cyst removed in July - but the test results did came back as extreme complex hyperplasia with Atypia) I obviously tried to get out of surgery since I am having the surgery 5 months later. I did lots of research, and went to GYN/ONC (who said another pathologist might have diagnosed this as cancer). Finally I deceided to have the TAH but I think I delayed it mostly because I don't really want to believe this was happening to me. Have you had an MRI yet? My GYN/ONC recommended one to make sure there was no further invasion before they do the surgery. There wasn't so the surgery should take care of the issue.

precancer

Thanks for all the imformation and support. No they haven't said anything about a MRI, My regular gyn is doing the surgury. I have to go back on the 20 of this month for more biopsys, to make sure it hasn't turned to cancer before the surgury, And to do my pre-op at the hospital. I will keep everyone informed on how things are going. My hope and prayers are with all of you. Thanks!!
