How long does Swelly Belly last?

I am 1 week post op (TVH kept ovaries and tubes) and was wondering how long it takes for the belly to go away. At the end of the day I get swollen, but by morning it is gone. I am so frustrated. My clothes fit part of the day, and at the end they are snug.

When will it stop!?!

swelly belly

I'm 5 weeks post op today and still get the swelly belly. I went grocery shopping the other day (didn't push the cart or pack groceries) when I left the house my jeans fit - by the time I got home I needed my sweats. My doctor told me it can take months in some cases for it to go away completely.

How long does Swelly Belly last?

Everyone heals differently but realistically it can last anywhere between 6 months to 1 year from what I understand. Personally, my swelly belly has finally ended 11 months post op. I didn't think it would ever go away but just this month I have noticed that my belly stays pretty flat even when I have very active days. It may not take you as long though. I think age, fitness level, and activity level have a lot to do with it. Hang in there! I know it's frustrating but you are only 1 week post op. Try not to dwell on it because it will just make you miserable. Just know that eventually it WILL go away.

How long does Swelly Belly last?

I'm almost 5 months post op and still have swelly belly although other symptoms, like pain and fatigue, are MUCH improved. Last week, I said to myself "if I'm swollen, it must be Tuesday" (Monday is my difficult day at school.) I just bought big clothes and figured it would be a triumph when they were too big and I could donate them to charity.

Attitude is everything so keep it positive : Besides, I'd rather be puffy than in pain and that was my other alternative.

How long does Swelly Belly last?

As I said in my reply to the Swollen Tummy post earlier tonight, I'm almost 6 months post-op now, and still occassionally get swelly belly if I overdo it or try to pick up something that is too heavy (which I'm really bad about doing before I think.) It usually only takes a few hours though before it goes away.

But to tell you the truth, I feel so much better than I did pre-op, that swelly belly is a small price to pay. I just drag out the sweat pants and the granny panties again and thank the Lord that I'm not buying 3 boxes of tampons a month and dragging around like snails carrying lumber because of the anemia! I guess there's always trade-offs.

Lisa
