I found my fibroid, but boy its getting revenge now!!!!
While taking a bath this am I was able to feel the fibroid on my lower stomach. Its like a large rubber ball as I kept pressing on it. My fibroid (at least this one) is attached to the uterus by a stalk. It was weird to finally feel it. My surgery is Monday. I'm very thin, so thats what made it so easy to find. But wow--now its really hurting--major cramping. I don't think it liked all my pushing around on it. I am surely paying a terrible price.
anyone else have a situation like this?

Hi Tra4
I did the exact same thing about 2 weeks pre-op. One of my fibroids was also on a stalk and sticking out, and I started poking around on it. I had terrible pain and cramps for the last two weeks because of it, and had to take Darvocet. As it turned out, the darn thing twisted around on it's stalk, died and broke off, and was floating loose in my abdomen, where my doctor said it could have caused a serious infection if not found in time.
The moral of the story? DON'T be poking around on your tummy!!! And call your doctor if the pain continues.
 s,
Lisa

I have a huge fibroid - or two. I don't think mine are on a stalk. But I can feel the large lump when a lay down on my back. I can actually feel a hard ball in my stomach area. And I don't poke at mine. I don't want to get it mad.

Poking equals problems
I have to admit, I am guilty of this pre op poking myself. However, what the doctor thought was a fibroid turned out to be a very large ovarian cyst. Had it been cancerous and ruptured I would have exposed my entire abdominal cavity to cancer. Poking is NOT a good idea because you don't really know 100% what is there until after the surgery.

I was able to feel some of my 7 large fibroids pre-surgery too, but mine were mostly intramural (between the uterine wall), so they didn't bother me if I didn't press them too often.
Since yours is on a stalk, it's possible that it twisted slightly and that's why you're having pain now. If the pain continues to concern you, please call your doctor.
