I am 6 days post-op and wanted to tell you all what has worked for me

Hi everyone, I am 6 days post-op and wanted to tell you all what has worked for me. First of all, prior to surgery, all of my friends were asking how they could help, as I live alone. I went to a website called meal train.com, pretty cool and free to sign up, I have had a new friend come each day and bring me food and visit for a bit. While they are here, they will also do little things like the dishes, fill up my water, take the trash out. Also, after using colace and mirilax every day to have a bowel movement, I finally tried a small cup of warmed prune juice with milk of mag. My friend suggested this that just had a hysterectomy. I also did an enema. The first concoction really worked. My gas pain was so terrible in the hospital, I advocated for gas x and that helped a lot. A friend of mine put an elevated toilet seat on my toilet which has saved my life, I am very tall and my toilet is low to the ground. It is plastic and just sits right on. I know they have them on amazon. elevated toilet seat. Also, that same friend put a side rail on my bed which helps tremendously for getting out of bed. It is easy to put on, has a super long piece that fits between the mattresses. Of course a heating pad has been my best friend, also using ice at times. Hard candy was good in the beginning as the pain meds gave me pretty bad cotton mouth. Also-when I was in the hospital, I asked for a whole bunch of the nylon throw away underwear, they are nice and big and you can throw them away each time you change. I also ordered underwear a size too big on amazon. I like amazon essentials, 12.00 for 6 pair. Pants in a mens large have been wonderful, got those in men's clearance at Ross for like 9.00. I just wanted to pass along some stuff that has worked for me as I have found this website very helpful. Also, this morning was in quite a bit of pain and played pain relief soothing sounds for healing on youtube. I am definitely using my incentive sprirometer, netflix and abdominal binder. My pain feels a little better today. Prayers for all of us warriors today
