Nesting

Hi Girls:

Well I can't believe it, I just realized something, I am nesting. Not only our home been scrubbed from top to bottom but I feel it real necessary to get everything in tip top shape. I feel the busier that I am the less time I need to spend thinking of the upcoming surgery. Does anyone else feel this way. My poor Golden Retriever is wondering why she has to take so many baths lately if I don't cut it out the dog won't have any hair left. Thank God my husband just putters around me smiling and shaking his head. If I don't stop this I'll drive everyone crazy. Well next week can't come soon enough for me. I did find out some great news today my Mom does not have espophagus cancer, she was never a smoker and I couldn't understand the first doctors diagnosis. However, she will be in the hospital on Tuesday and I on Thursday. Too bad we couldn't be together. Well thanks for letting me vent. Love to All

Hi Lillylou,

That's great news about your Mom. I know you and she must be really relieved that it's not cancer!!

And I think nesting is a normal reaction for most of us. We, being the homemakers that we are, want everything perfect around us and for our families. I almost killed myself the last few weeks, trying to do everything at once. (And, being very anemic, I couldn't really spare the energy I was using!) I finally figured out, the day before surgery, when I still had a ton of stuff to do on my list, to stop worrying about it. It wasn't important at all. I spent that last day doing things that I enjoyed, a trip to the mall, dinner out, watching movies with my family, all the stuff I wouldn't be able to do for awhile.

My advice would be to give yourself (and the dog) a break, and go spend time with your hubby. The house will still be there, and if it's not quite up to speed, no one will notice. Just relax, enjoy yourself, and realize that you'll be on the "better" side before you know it.

Best wishes and lots of s,

Lisa

PS Don't forget to add your surgery date to your profile so we can send you off in the style a soon-to-be princess deserves. To do that, just click on the Control Panel button at the top of this page, then click Edit Profile. Add your date into the appropriate section, then select "Submit Modifications" at the bottom of the page.

Hi lillylou,
I was a nester too. I think it is perfectly normal. I felt better going for surgery (Nov.6th) knowing everything was done and ready for my return. Good luck next week and you will do great. I'm doing fine and you will be so glad when you return home. So happy for your Mom and my prayers are with both of you. Take care.

The Maillady

I feel the same way you do. I have a little over 2 weeks until surgery and I have been working around my house like crazy. I am cleaning and organizing everything! I have also gone to Costco and stocked up on anything and everything my family might need while I am recuperating. Oh, and I can't forget to mention that I am going nuts trying to finish my holiday shopping. My plan is to be done by next Tuesday so I can start wrapping and shipping. I hope to relax Thanksgiving week with my family and stay home a lot. I don't want to get sick before my surgery! Good luck next week. I'll be thinking of you.

Cleaning, organizing, rearranging, making lists.......it's never ending!! I still have quite a way to go yet too!! I've kind of laid off the house a little bit, and am now carrying it over to my office!! Time to drive the guys here at work nuts, instead of DH for awhile!!
