Hi - I have a question and maybe I'm over-reacting a bit early. But, I had a TVH/BSO on the 18th of Nov. I came home from the hospital the very next day. I was fine until Friday when I started becoming very nauseous. It's more like indigestion. I can't actually throw up (did once but it was just clear fluid). Is this normal? Did anyone else have this happen to them? I think I could handle just about anything other than being nauseous all day long. I'm still quite gassy and bloated also. Please help....

Thank you!

Are you still on meds?

Is it possible you're taking something that is making you nauseous? It would be best not to be upchucking at this stage (don't wanna get a hernia like I did!) so if you can't identify the problem pretty quickly I'd suggest having a word with your doctor. I don't think it's a reason to panic or anything - your body has been through a major ordeal and having some nausea might just be a reaction to being treated so harshly. Your bowels are probably pretty insulted.

lots of reason for nausea post op

like drug withdrawal, excess stomach acid since we aren't eating much, gas in the stomach, etc. Phenegren is great for stopping the queasy feeling and it is a prescription that can be phoned in with a call to your doc. For the stomach acid, a problem I occasionally have problems with anyway, doc put me back on Prilosec for a bit.

Simethecone drugs like gas-x and phasyme are good too. A mild antacid like Tums (which will give you calcium too) are helpful. I survived on toast and water for a few days before I gave up the fight and got a shot of phenegren, followed by that drug in pill form.

Are you on estrogen? One of the usually transitory side effects from it can be nausea. I remember getting nauseated the same day each day for about 5 days I'd say toward the end of my first week post-op. I had switched to taking oral estrogen.

If the nausea doesn't pass, then I would call your doctor.

hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for this post. My nausea just started about 2 hours ago. I had abdo subtotal (ovaries left) on wednesday and came home today (sat) about 10am.

Maybe Im just on the puter too much =)
