2nd opinion not really what I hoped!

I went yesterday morning and saw a gyn/oncologist. He reviewed my records and did an exam. He says he would NOT do the 2nd ckc on Friday but instead would opt for a vaginal hysterectomy while I still have enough cervix to do it. I still don't know what to do. Everyone in my family says "Just have the hysterectomy!" like the answer is so simple. I just can't commit to it.

s to you!!!

Unfortunately, sometimes the best advice is not what we hoped to hear.
I personally, would follow the advice of the gyn oncologist.
Could you possibly get a third opinion and let the majority rule.
Best wishes to you.

{{hugs}} to you!

I can certainly understand how difficult a decision this must be. I can honestly say I'm really glad I didn't have to ponder options.

Get as many opinions as it takes for you to make a decision that YOU will be comfortable with as it is ultimately your decision and yours alone.

If you haven't already, do as much research as you can stand to do and ask as many questions as it takes until you have the information you need.

I wish you much luck and hope you'll find peace in your decision.

It's always so easy for others (who haven't been in our situation) to tell us "just go for it!"

So, if I remember correctly, your gyn recommended the hysterectomy and now you've gone for a second opinion and that doc is also recommending a hysterectomy?

I really can relate to your position. When my doc recommended the TAH, I just really didn't want to go along with it. My doc talked to a gyn/onc for me and another pathologist, and all agreed that the hysterectomy was the best option for me. I cried. And then I cried some more. I was 37 and wasn't ready for a life-changing and identity-changing surgery. Well, it was a life-changing surgery--I'm healthy and alive and with a new vigor for life. It was not an identity-changing surgery (I had read plenty of horror stories about how women were never themselves again). It was a difficult choice for me to make, but I really trusted my doc and I knew he believed it was best because of all the calls he made to me and to the other specialists. And now, all of this being in the past, I am so glad I went through with it. My worries are fewer. I know I still need to be followed closely, but for now, all is in order. And I feel great! Just like I always did.

You have to do what you feel is best for your circumstances. If you still aren't sure, then you owe it to yourself to go see another doctor and continue to ask questions. It's really important that you feel comfortable going into this.

Good luck! Please let us know what you decide to do, and let us know if there are more questions we can answer for you.

<----- another one for good measure
