Upcoming May total hysterectomy & BSO: Management of microvascular iscaemia during peri and post op

Have just had a positive treadmill test (as expected, as I was diagnosed with microvascular angina some years ago).
Due to have a TAH/ BSO next month, and was wondering about how my care will be managed in terms of level of monitoring during and after surgery, as there is an increased risk of having a cardiac event. Any sisters out there with same condition post surgery who can give me the low down , I would love to hear your stories/ experience.

Hi Miss Bubbles to HysterSisters!

I am so glad you found this site.

I do not have any direct experience to relate. But we do have many women on this site, so hopefully one will see this post and respond.

To put your mind at ease, you may wish to ask your doctor and anesthesiologist about this.

I had same diagnosis November 2019 and Total Laproscopic Hysterectomy everything removed in May 2020 I also have neuroendocrine cancer they monitored me because of carcinoid crisis by an internal invasive arterial line in my left forearm artery I was held for observation for two days and then discharged no cardiac problems other than extremely low blood pressure which was weird but I just had my stress test and echo today preparing for an adhesion lysis surgery May 10. Praying for an uneventful surgery and speedy recovery fellow sister!

I don't have any specific experience with your condition, but I do have consistently low blood pressure, which bottomed out at 87/48 the night after my surgery; subsequent research indicated that this was most likely a reaction to the anaesthesia and/or pain medication. You can rest assured that your surgical team will be constantly monitoring your vital signs throughout the surgery and the immediate post-op period, and if you discuss your condition with then beforehand, they can take extra precautions to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Wishing you all the best for a successful surgery and a smooth recovery!
