How many weeks post for first sexual relations?

Hi Ladies,

I am wondering what range of post-op dates you all have gotten the go ahead for full sexual relations?

I suppose it differs for TAH vs LAH, but I sure would like to know what the general consensus is out there.

My BF and I resumed some activity in the last few days, and we are taking it slow but sure. Since I didn't officially get the go ahead from my doc (I never asked).......... I am just wondering if I should place a call to his office about it?

I've had no urgent pain or discomfort, just a wee bit sore as if when I over-do, but we are gentle and cautious.

I will say this................... the plumbing all works! As great as ever!

What's the experience out there?

Thanks girls,

How many weeks post for first sexual relations?

Hi Cori

If I were you I'd put that call into your DR....just to put your mind at rest. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

(((Cori))), I've got to agree with Lynne.... there is so much that can go wrong this early, and you might not even know right away. You need to make sure your DR has cleared you first.

I think the average around here has been about six weeks or a little longer, until the DR cleared us, and many of us have chosen to wait a little longer. After all, we've got the rest of our lives ahead of us!

How many weeks post for first sexual relations?

I had a TAH/BSO and I was cleared by my doc to resume at 4 weeks post op but Linda is right, the general rule of thumb has been 6 weeks.

We waited till 5 weeks but I could have gone was a little uncomfortable at first but it got better as time went by, thankfully.

Please do call your doctor about this. We care about you and want your recovery to go well.

How many weeks post for first sexual relations?

Hi Cori

The best thing to do is not to resume full sexual relations until you get the go ahead from your Doctor. Everyone is different, so everyone will be given different amounts of time that they have to wait. I could not resume until around 10 weeks post op, because I had granulation tissue, that had to be treated and given time to heal. Most of the Ladies do not have to wait as long as I did.

Please please call you Doctor and find out for sure, usually they let you know when it is Ok to go ahead. If he didn't say any thing maybe it just slipped his mind, or maybe he wants you to wait longer. So please do find out for sure.

Take Care

How many weeks post for first sexual relations?

You and I are a day apart and I was given the OK at just under 5 weeks with the usual cautions attached. DH felt none of the "teeth"/stitches I had heard about but we went slow and careful. As everyone else said, check with your to be sure. I was discharged at that post-op visit with a now do things as you feel better attittude for pretty much everything.

As always, hope everyone feels better today than they did yesterday.
