11 days post hysterectomy light bleeding. Pain in lower right pelvis

Hi. I had larporscopic surgery and had my uterus, cervix and tubes removed. Day 3-4 I was walking around the block and going to a party. I wasn’t taking oxy and I was doing well. Now day 11 I’m in pain on my right lower pelvis, it hurts when I sit, and have a little light pink blood. I’m frustrated, sad and scared. I saw my doctor yesterday and she is seeing me again next week. No fever but I do feel nauseous. Just trying to rest but on the inside I’m really kind of freaking out

Re: 11 days PO light bleeding. Pain in lower right pelvis

In your post about rectal pain when you sit, I shared with you all the cuts, stitches and cauterizations which happened with surgery. Recovery has to be thought in terms of many weeks, not days. You're still several weeks away from being released by your surgeon, correct? Few women are ready for extended social time at parties in the first week or two. You might be doing too much, and now your body is objecting.

Bleeding can happen at any time these weeks while you're under your doctor's care. Healing comes in stages, your body knows when to begin the next phase, and with that can come changes in pain, discharge and our energy levels. Also, if you do too much too soon, you may notice more pain and bleeding - and that's something you can control. The general guideline is if you're filling a maxi-pad in an hour, that's a medical emergency. Otherwise, it's something to monitor, and meanwhile, give yourself more rest. Our two best articles are Spotting vs. Bleeding After Hysterectomy
and Vaginal Discharge After Hysterectomy. The other article I suggest is the darker side of The Doing Too Much Too Soon After Hysterectomy. You don't want a cuff tear, nor do you want future complications from an adhesion as I did, 5 years after my hysterectomy. Both mean more surgery.

I'd suggest pulling back this weekend, reclining in an easy chair, and resting - really resting. If you don't have a recliner, pick any comfy chair and arrange pillows. My joke "regret" after all the resting was that I wouldn't be tanned or have memories of sipping pina coladas served by a cabana boy at a tiki hut on some tropical beach ! In all seriousness, it's medical leave, not vacation. Downtime is what your body needs.

Haha. True. I’m a teacher so I’m off anyway, but I am getting a little mad that my tan is fading. Couch bound today (and probably tomorrow) for most of the day. *sigh* my husband and I were supposed to have a date today.
