Upcoming hysterectomy 9/28 - recovery similar to bilateral salpingectomy?

Good afternoon!
This site has been so helpful with all the info. My question is will the pain level and recovery be more that a bilateral salpingectomy? I had my tubes out 4 yeast ago laparoscopically, I am wondering if my recovery will be similar. If any of you ladies have been through both I’d love to know! My hysterectomy is 9/28 laparoscopic.

Re: What to expected

the recovery for a hysterectomy won't be like when you had your tubes removed. you are having an organ removed along with your cervix. the recovery will be longer.

Re: What to expected

I had a TAH with a large vertical incision on August 31. I'm sure everyone is different, but in the hospital my pain was not too high IF I was not moving (about #2-3). By three days post surgery it was #0-1 if I wasn't moving. My surgery was at 9:30 am. By midnight they had me sitting up and walking across the room. The process of sitting up/ moving would spike my pain up to #6. By mid-day on Sept. 1 I was exclusively on motrin and tylenol for pain.

At 15 days post op I'm usually only feeling pain if I'm moving and its a #2-3 at most.

Hi Amagee,

Although I had everything (and then some extra bladder repair work) at the same time, I too would expect your recovery to be longer than just having your tubes removed.

We all heal differently, so please get advice from your doctor so that you know what to expect. This knowledge will help you feel better prepared to have a good recovery.

Here is an article with some basic timelines for recivery:
Hysterectomy Types and Recovery Time

Best of luck for a safe surgery and good recovery.
