Castle Hill

Guess what, I've just realised my hospital is called Castle Hill!!
Specially made for a princess?
I see that some LIW refer to bowel preps and light diets etc for a couple of days before surgery. I've not been told anything except to turn up on the day! Could anyone enlighten me so I can do my own 'mini-preps' to smooth the way, please?

Hi, Lizzie,

Some doctors want to to follow a special bowel prep or diet, and others don't. Doctors all seem to have different ideas about what a pre-op prep consists of. It's extremely important to follow your doctor's orders, and the best way to learn what your doctor wants is to call the office and ask.

So make that phone call, and find out what your doctor wants you to do. And good luck with your surgery!

Best wishes,

Hi Lizzie :hiya:

Excellent advice has already been given!! Each doc is different, and it also depends on the surgery they plan to do. Give your doc's office a call just to double check what they do or do not want you to do. Always follow your doctors instructions, never give yourself a bowel prep unless it's been ordered for you.

Best wishes for your upcomming surgery! Let us know how you make out.

No bowel preps!!

I didnt mean I would try anything complicated or medical on my own - just that I see some people follow a light diet for a couple of days beforehand, and avoid certain veg, etc.....just wondered if I could smooth the path a little for myself as there is no pre-op advice at all where I live. You just do as you feel best.
Thanks for good wishes. This waiting is the worst!!
