I'm official too

I'm officially a lady in waiting too. I'm scheduled for Jan 28 for what I think is an LAVH - BSO. The cervix is staying, everything else is coming out through the little incisions (3 at 1/4 inch and 1 at 1/2 inch) in the abdomen. I have fibroids which are getting painful and complex cysts on both ovaries. The ovaries was a difficult decision but it was either take them out or continue to have sonograms once a month and a blood test for cancer every time they saw something they didn't like, which was about every other month. Plus it appears that most of the pain is coming from the ovaries not the fibroids. I'm looking forward to it!

DH is taking 4 days off to be with me in the hospital and baby me at home. I'm going to try and work from home the second week but my boss is flexible on that. My doctor is great, he spent two hours with DH and me answering every question we could come up with plus another hour and a half with me explaining the procedure, recovery etc.

My biggest concern right now LOL is exactly where is this belly button incision going to be made - am I going to have to have my belly button repierced?

I'm official too

Hi Ollie,

Congrats on getting your surgery date! Your doc sounds great spending so much time explaining everything to you and DH.

I, like you, decided to have my ovaries removed. I did not want to run the risk of any more complications down the road, and as I told my doc ,"I only want to do this surgery once." It all went very well, and I've had a very smooth recovery. You may be a little optimistic about working from home the second week. At least in my experience (I work from home too)---I just couldn't concentrate and it was difficult sitting at the computer for very long. I gave myself the full 6 weeks and then started back to work part-time. Just see how you do---your boss sounds supportive too.

So now that you are "official" enjoy your holidays and use your waiting time to get yourself prepared! There are lots of good tips for pre and post op on the Pull Down Menus at the bottom of the home page. Post any questions that may come up for you....

Best wishes and Happy Holidays!
