Still not sleeping

Have tried several sleep remedies with no luck. Read a pull down about anxiety, depression and neurotransmiters and how lack of
REM sleep is so dangerous. Would sure help explain the increasing depression. Wondered if anyone had used melatonin to help with sleep issues. Have read mixed info about safety.
Just looking for another thing to try?

last thing I heard about melatonin

is the FDA pulled it from the market due to patients getting really ill from it. Now, that may have been years ago and they might have reintroduced it.

Love to read the articles you have read. have you got the URL's for those?

What have you tried so far? Over the counter stuff? Lot of women here post about trying prescription sedatives and this certain anti-depressant for insomnia and report it helps. My doc was discussing phenobarbital with me last week as a proven medication for fibromyalgia, a disorder that gets worse with bad sleep patterns. Not sure if I am ready to try that yet, but will consider it later.

Going to discuss this all Monday with my new gyn and Tuesday with my naturopath. I will let you know what advise I get and you can use your own discretion.

Audrey is the woman to ask about melatonin

I used the search function with the word "neurotransmitters" and up popped several threads on the treatment of insomnia. I am sure Audrey will be around shortly to answer your post.

The anti-depressant posted about often is Trazadone. Lot of discussion of this in prior threads and Surferbabe provides a link to a med school website that was interesting.
