new diagnosis...a little scared

Hello fellow princesses-
I am 34 and was diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer on Dec 16th. I have a full body CT scan and chest X-rays on Jan.2 then exam with gyn/oncologist Jan.8 then TAH on Jan.16.
I would love to hear from others and their stories, I just found this site today and am completely inspired by all of you. I feel I have a very optimisitc attitude and am ready to go to battle...but I'm still very scared.

sending positive energy and hugs to you all!

's to you Tarah!

Welcome to Cancer Concerns! I'm sorry to hear that you have received difficult news, especially at this time of year, but wow, you sound ready to take it on! Lots of the girls here have had invasive cervical cancer, and I know that they will be along soon to greet you and offer support. Mine was caught before it turned invasive, so the only treatment I needed was the TAH.

I'm so glad to hear that you are already set up to see a gyn/onc. They are really the experts in female cancers, and they know all the current (and upcoming) surgical and treatment procedures.

I see your surgery is set up soon, so don't forget to visit the pre-op board to get all of the important pre-op information. Also, on the home page, there are pull-down menus packed full of information to help you prepare for your trip to the castle.

Please come by often, Tarah, and let us know how you are doing. You're part of the family now, and we'll be here for you any time you need us. Good luck on Friday with CT scan and X-rays--I hope they come back all clear!

<---- another one for good measure!

new diagnosis...a little scared

Hi...I was recently diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer also. I'm 37 yoa. My CAT scan just came back clear. I was so nervous about the CAT. I have 2 appointments set up this week for 2nd and 3rd opinions. Then I'll be making a decision about the surgery.

This board has been wonderful. I found that the more research I do, the less anxious I am. I'll be thinking of you! Jill Sue

Hi Tarah.....I just wanted to welcome you here and send you some 's. Mine was considered a pre-cancer and I didn't need any further treatment after the hyst.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that your upcoming tests come back all clear.

Hi Tarah,

Sorry to hear of your does sound like your doctors are moving right along with your treatment. I was diagnosed almost a year ago (february) and had a cone biopsy. Six weeks after recovery from that I had my radical hysterectomy (April 3rd). I was diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer, Grade 1b. Scared...I was petrified. You wouldn't be human if you weren't a little scared. We're all here for you. I also had a chest x-ray, and will be having a CAT scan this year.

I made a great recovery, and even now find it hard to believe I actually had major surgery. (have to look at my incision sometimes to believe it!!). I'm working out in the gym with a personal trainer and getting stronger each month!

Best wishes with your surgery. Remember to be a good !
