At least I got an appointment

Hi,

I contacted my friend who runs the surgical clinic. She said she'd see if she could weasel an appointment out of the Pit Bull Nurse. And SHE DID!!! So I don't have a surgery date yet - February OR schedule still not out - but at least I will be able to see the surgeon and ask my questions about this hernia. Or should I say hernias. AND I can get him to check and see if I do have an inguinal or femoral hernia as well. I'm feeling better now (about this not WITH this!) My appointment is February 6. Only a couple of weeks. I am going to be making my list and checking it twice!

Meanwhile, things are very intense at my house. I'm not sure how we're all going to get through all this. Fortunately we're all creative, Hubby's busiest travel time is fast approaching and my biggest fear is that he will not be here when I have surgery. I really need his support for that, and for awhile after as well.

Granddaughter wants to play and her mother is working, so I guess I'll go play "Barbie says".

Hope the rest of you are doing well. My best wishes to those who are struggling. Ain't it the PITS??

Hooray! One for our side!

now, to get you to that appointment. I have a dh who used to be called to the road on a moment's notice all the time so I know how that feels. Ended up at some mandatory training seminar for the auto industry while I stayed home and miscarried once. But it was either go or not have the qualifications to do his job and subsequent unemployment.

Let's hope Barbie doesn't say to play . Grandma might say bad words.

MeDH makes me laugh

No, thankfully Barbie did not say to play Actually, I don't know what the heck she said. I could NOT keep up with Barbie OR my 4-year-old granddaughter.

I have to say I am nervous about dh travel. Only one trip has definite dates and that's the first week of March. But he intends to hook another trip onto it, either before or after. I just have this feeling that even if he's here for the surgery he'll be at the airport before I wake up.

Joselle!!!

I'm so glad you called your friend and got the appointment sweetie!!! Good for you!!!

Now don't forget your list of questions...and make that doc get you a surgery date while your there!!! And don't forget to mention the way that Miss Pit Bull has been treating you!!

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head dear, Please let us know how it goes. I'll be crossing my fingers and toes that he gives you a surgery date asap.

And as far as DH being gone....Try not to stress about it ( I know easier said than done) Maybe you can bring up to the doc your concerns and you can schedule surgery so that he can be there for you. Will you have anyone else that can come and stay with you for a few days after surgery? Can you hire someone to come and lend a hand? Lets see if we can wrack our brains to make sure things will be okay after surgery...

lots of love....

Joselle,

YEAH!!!!! ....I'm so glad that you finally got an appointment. I hear ya on taking a list.......I have a million questions for my dr but can't remember a one unless I take a list with me.

Make sure you get a good eyeball of the pitbul nurse..you'll want to know where her station is so you can leave her a milkbone.

Good Luck at your appointment....let us know how it goes. And ...YES...like Dawn (toolgirl) said...Be sure to get a surgery appointment while you are there.

Thanks for the support

Hi ladies

Thanks for all the support. Of course now my mind is sorta blank. Like what did I want to see this guy for? Luckily I have been making notes and will drag out my list and make a GOOD and succinct list for this doctor.

Pit Bull nurse. Well, we'll see about her. I'll just be real nice. Remember, it's she who gave me the appointment. I'm just glad I have such a nice friend who helped me out. And you know what? I met her ONLINE!!! She lives practically down the street from me!! And little did I know where she worked . . . . life is strange sometimes, isn't it?

My daughter and granddaughter live with me so I'm not alone. But I'd almost rather be in the beginning!! I might get my other daughter over here to just take care of ME!!

Today I heard of a local seniors residence that rents out rooms for people who are post op. For $60 a day they give you a private room and serve you three meals a day. Not bad! But I think I'd rather stay home with my family. DH or not. I know he'll do his best to be here, but some things are critical and can't be changed. I can schedule my surgery around his schedule IF HE WILL JUST GET A SCHEDULE. But I don't think he's going to be home for more than two weeks at a time. Will that be enough to get me over the hump? I want to be able to get out of bed and down and back up off the couch by myself.

thanks again!!

I know for me Joselle.....

Two weeks was plenty to get me over the hump. You'll still be sore of course and doing the princess thing, but you should be okay on your own after that.
