Jude,

An IVP is basically an xray of your urinary tract to see if it's leaking. They have you clean out your system the day before the procedure (much like an upper GI prep) When you go in for the test, they inject a dye in you through an IV and start taking "pictures" as it move through your body. It is not painful, although the dye does make some people nauseous(sp), it did me!

Yes, a cystoscope is the instrument that they use to look in your bladder, going in through the urethra. Again, it's not really painful, just uncomfortable. The worst part for me was just thinking about it! They numb the area before they insert the cystoscope.

Thanks so much ((((Louise))))! I guess I should call my Uro-Gyn a few days before the appointment to see if any tests are booked. The new gyn seemed to know a lot more then I did about what was going to be done
