Bene-something douche?? Infection related

Okay, why does my brain frizzle whenever I'm put into one of those paper gowns?? Saw my doc yesterday for my on going infection problem and he mentioned that although I've been on antibiotics for three days, the cuff is still swollen and inflammed and infected. So he said he would see me in a week, keep taking the medicine, and if it still wasn't healed that he would suggest a benedine (I think) douche. Did I get that word right? All it reminds me of is this orange stuff my grandmother used to plaster on our cuts as a kid, used to hurt like crazy! I think that was tincture of iodine though. Let's HOPE ITS NOT THAT!!
Anyway, can someone tell me what this bene-something or other douche might entail? I've done a search, but can't find it in any of the posts. Also, how long do antibiotics usually take to work? I went back to the doctor so soon because I felt like my incision and lower tummy were puffy and I was afraid the infection was spreading. Fortunately, the doctor assured me that was not the case. Thanks for any info!

betadine?

instead of bene-something. Betadine is an iodine based disinfectant commonly prescribed to treat vaginal infections. Don't know if this is pre-packaged and mixed already. Not into douching so I ignore that shelf at Walmart. Your doc should give you the recipe for mixing the douche.

Ten days is the average course for antibiotics but if they are working, you will see improvement in a few days. Take the full course so you kill all those bad germies!

you got it!

Betadine! Yes, that is what he said. Thank you! I guess if they sell it at Wal-Mart it can't be all that unusual....but I don't normally stroll down that aisle either.
Will definately continue to take my meds, usually the antibiotic meds work really quickly on me, but maybe this one will take abit longer as it involves healing too. Thanks!

You could possibly need a change of anti-biotic. I remember taking Amoxil for a staph infection in my incision and it did not work, I changed to Keflex and it got rid of it. I used to wash my incision with Betadine.

SOME WORK BETTER THAN OTHERS!!

SOME ANTIBIOTICS WORK BETTER THAN OTHERS.. AND IF YOUR BODY BECOMES IMMUNE THEY WONT WORK AT ALL.. I SHOULD KNOW.. I WAS ON TWO DIFFERENT ANTIBIOTICS FOR BLADDER INFECTIONS AFTER THE HYST.. FOR 3 IN A HALF WEEKS AND THEY DID NOTHING FOR THE INFECTION..

SO IF AFTER TAKING THE FULL AMOUNT IT COULD JUST BE YOUR BODY IS IMMUNED TO IT AND NEED A WHOLD DIFFERENT MED. LIKE BREEZE SAID....

ANYHOW I SURE HOPE YOU GET BETTER.. HUGS AND PRAYERS NICKY
