Update - my neurosurgeon app.

Hi ladies !

I went to my app. today - ended up waiting 2 hrs.
Anyway, he says I might have a pinched nerve. The MRI's that I brought to him were done last July. And the pain has just recently, in the past 2 mo. gotten unbearable. So he wants me to have a mylegram of my spine done - I guess they inject dye. And then I have to have a CT scan done. He said that will show with 100% certainty whats going on.
So on Mon. I will make the app's for that & I guess I'll go from there.

Update - my neurosurgeon app.

Ah (((Susan))), progress is being made. Sorry you had to wait today.... sitting that long can be pretty uncomfortable when your back hurts. I hope you can get your appointments for the other tests soon so you can find out finally what's going on!

Here's a link to a description of what a Myelogram involves:

http://www.spineuniverse.com/display...rticle249.html

My understanding is that the CT scan is done at the same appointment, right after the myelogram. Are they having you do it at a separate time?

BTW, I don't know if you've visited it yet but www.spineuniverse.com seems to be a great site for getting basic information about every kind of disorder, test and treatment having to do with the spine.

We'll look forward to hearing how these tests go... I hope that takes you one step closer to being pain free!
s,
-Linda

Update - my neurosurgeon app.

(((Susan))),
I'm glad they will be doing further testing to get to the source of your pain Did your Dr say how they will treat it if this is what it is?? I hope it can be resolved w/o surgery but if that is what needs to be done please know my prayers will be with you!
I am experiencing worsening back pain & problems....It's to the point it has limited my ability to function..on 2/14 I have to schedule a Discography/Discogram to find out if mine is from my damaged discs, then we will discuss further options for treatment. I'm scared to death of procedures/surgery on my back...I'm sure you know the feeling The links Linda provided are very informative on back problems, I've been researching several different disorders that result in back problems..here are a few more that have been helpful to me:

Has your Dr mentioned trying some of the alternative treatments at trying to relieve some of your pain Susan? Many have had success with Epidual Injections, I tried them but got no relief. Here is some info on them:

There are also several types of Nerve blocks that have been of some help to many:

Update - my neurosurgeon app.

Thanks girls !!

And Linda & Sheri, thanks so much for all the great links - I'm going to read thru them real carefully tommorrow. I just got home from work a couple hrs. ago & fell asleep on the couch & just woke up. You guys know I'm a nite-owl............
Anyways, Sheri, you asked about how the Dr. wanted to treat it. He said what I was afraid of - surgery. And I dont even want to discuss it with him till we get these test results back. My PM Dr. said he would do injections or nerve blocks if the Neuro feels its necessary. Sheri, I sure hope you dont have disc damage to your back Let us know what happens, ok ? My L4 & L5 discs are not right - one has a bulge & you can see on the MRI where the nerve is possibly being compressed. I am at the point of going crazy with this back pain. I cant even lay on my right side any more, not for even a minute or I'm screaming with pain from the sciatica.
And Linda you asked if they do the CT at the same time as the myelogram - yes they do. I dont care, long as they dont put me in that MRI contraption , Lol
Thanks again girls for all the support !

I wish there was a way I could make your pain go away. I'll continue to keep you in my prayers dear friend. I hope these tests will guide the docs to do what's best for you my dear. Hopefully something other then the "S" word.
