vivelle dot vs vivelle

I am loving the vivelle dot patch (.05) my doc gave me a sample of last week. I took the prescription to be filled and when I picked it up, it was plain vivelle, not the dot. My pharmacy called the doc to have the prescription changed but doctor's office hasn't called back. I also left a message - she may not get around to returning calls until after office hours. But, I was wondering, does anyone know the difference? The vivelle seems like it might be a bigger patch but is there anything else I should know? I have until Friday morning before I have to change it but I want to be prepared.

The Vivelle is the same thing, in the same dose. I happen to like the Dot because I have problems with adhesives, and I prefer to minimize the patch area and contact with my skin. I was also given the Vivelle by accident at the pharmacy, and the results and dose were the same, it was just a bigger patch, which may also be prone to more "wrinkling" if you're bigger . It sure did on me, where I sat down! But it did work just fine, and the pharmacy even took back the rest of the box (it was their mistake) without making me re-pay the copayment!

Hope this helps, and you can get what you want when you talk with the doctor's office tomorrow. You should be able to get what you need before Friday, it's a simple matter for your doctor (or the office nurse) to confirm the change in script...

Same thing happened to me

Even though the mistake was from the nurse, the pharmacy called the Doc's office and got their permission to switch. I had opened the box, but none of the patches and the pharmacy took them back, no charge, when I received the replacement. It makes a big difference to me if a have a smaller patch!
Good luck for a speedy switch!

Thank you ladies for calming my panic! I have to call the pharmacy later to see if my doctor got back to them. If not, I'll go ahead and use the bigger patch. Love ya!
