's for you!

I'm so sorry that you are having to go through this again. It doesn't get any easier does it? I had hoped I wouldn't be so nervous the second time around...but I was.

As you know I had to have my abdominal incision reopened as well for a hernia and lots of other things. It really is hard to keep your mind off of it. Be sure your doc is going to use some sort of adhesion barrier. At least you did shop around some for docs, had I known before my hyst what I know now I would have done the same.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who still has Christmas decorations up. well.........just the tree still and with all the gloom and heartache around here right now I figure it might as well stay up for a while, it does bring a little joy to the livingroom. I think I'll just throw some hearts on it and make it look intentional.

Good Luck and we will keep you in our thoughts.

I don't WANNA be cut open again!!!!!

(((Joselle))) right there with you sweetie

For me what works is that old saying "When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping!" which means that what works best for me is to go out bargain hunting (if I need something) or just window shopping (if I don't).

For bargains I love to search through Marshall's and TJ Maxx ... and those two stores have the very big added attractions that (1) I can afford to shop there and (2) they have shopping carts, into which I can plop my gargantuan purse and onto which I can lean if I get a little weary.

If I really don't want to buy anything, and if the weather is nice, I go to Stanford Shopping Center, which is a beautiful open air mall where there are fountains and flowers and birds.... I'll splurge on a smoothie or fancy coffee and stroll around pretending I can actually afford to buy something there

If it's rainy there is a wonderful old mall here with wooden floors that are oh so comfy to stroll around on, and plenty of benches to sit down on when I get tired... and I'll go and people-watch there.

If I feel really, really awful, there's always eBay for some pleasant diversion.

What do you like to do? Do that, now, before your surgery. Take time for you, to do just what YOU want. Buy yourself a pretty nightie or cute pj's to wear when you get home from the castle. Or one of those lovely soft fleecy throws to cuddle up with (I took mine to the castle when I had my hyst and it made me feel right at home!). Get in the mode now, so you're all ready when you need to start letting others wait on you!

Think positive... you got the best information you could... you made the right decision for you... it's all going to go smoothly and you'll be back home feeling better before you know it.
Lots of s to you,
PS I hope you will feel free to repeat all this back to me when I am going cuckoo before my surgery, whenever that turns out to be!

Great ideas

Thanks so much for the great ideas. I wasn't going to get a new nightie, but now I think I just might. It's time. A pretty one. I know button down the front ones are nice for times like this. And just going out and doing something for myself might really give me the boost I need. Isn't it funny how I can come up with support for the LIWs but when it comes to myself I just about forget what to do!!

Thanks for reminding me!!

times don't change

.. well I've been browsing around this morning and want to give you all a great big thank you. I had a SAH at end of April this year - my surgeon was pleased when freed of large fibroids my pelvic floor sprang back into place. He did fix the remaining cervix to the ligaments but to my devastation, about 3 weeks ago I suddently noticed my cervix was poking out of my vagina. Immediately I just knew the score. Well I've been moping around feeling very sorry for myself. Dreading another abdominal incision - more than anything that's what I found hardest before.

I have a pessary in for now and it does mean I can forget about it somewhat. I'm trying to be good about work and arranging the surgery so I can be recovering over Christmas/New Year. I'm very aware of how I pampered myself before the op last time - thanks to you guys and the advice then. But this time, I feel I've got new PJs and new this and that from before & I just don't have the heart to be so self indulgent again - and putting my family through it again upsets me.

.. So .. tomorrow I'll come back and read this thread again .. and I'll do it the next day .. until I snap out of this mood and start to think about myself and my needs again .. oh, here are the tears ..

better get on, the dog's crying to go out .. Love the support you folks all give and don't know what I'd do without it. Why did it take me 3 weeks to get back here - head in the sand I guess!

I don't WANNA be cut open again!!!!!

I'm in all likelihood looking at more sugery too..to repair a fistula.
The worst part for me is the WAITING. If they'd just call me & say 'OK..you're going in tomorrow & getting the repair surgery'..I wouldn't have a chance to worry!!!!

However, as it doesn't work that way, I have plenty of time to read and stew..stew..stew. Right now, I'm still waiting for a darned referral to a specialist. So in the meantime, I have plenty of time to read about the success stories..but also plenty of time to read about the failures too.

One lady who'd had the same surgery as I'm looking at said in her post how it's all about remaining positive & having a positive attitude. So, I've now decided that it's my choice. I can freak out about it (which I still do at times) or I can just fight like crazy to stay positive. Either way, it's going to happen, & that's where the faith part has to kind of come in.

I don't have the strongest faith in the world & at times, have a splash in my 'pity party pool', but then I drag myself back out & think about how great it's going to be to finally be 'dry' & then...look out..I'm going UNDERWEAR SHOPPING!!!!! I don't have the perfect figure, granted, but I'm going to throw out all these crappy ol' underwear from my 'pre-hyst' days..and buy NICE NEW UNDIES!

Or heck..maybe I'll just throw them all out and NEVER WEAR UNDIES AGAIN!!! Bah hah!! My naked rear end flapping around in the -20 Canadian winter!!!

OK..maybe that's pushing it a bit, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm with you on the 'jitters' thing..and how I'm trying to deal with it!
