OK! Surgery is 2/14 and I'm getting really nervous! I'm not so worried about the surgery. I've had my gallbladder removed and the Dr. "nicked" my liver and I have a 10" scar, but I'm just trilled to finally find a Dr. to take me seriously and get this over with!! I have--don't know how many fibroids an enlarged uterus "up to my waist" and severe pain and bleeding. I will have a TAH/BSO, don't know if they are leaving the cervix or not, I go in for pre-op inst. tomorrow. My biggest concern is becoming a total luny bin after hyst. I'm 51 and I've never even been "late". I tried ProVara and that was BAD!! I quite the best job I'll ever have trying HRT and I'm scared to death what it's going to be like after surgery. I have even tried to drink Soy milk, it make me extremely depressed. Do you have to take hormones? I don't want to go gray over this!!!

No, you don't

You don't have to take hormones. I'm not. But I had gone through menopause before I had the hysterectomy. I tried HRT while going through menopause and it just didn't work for me. I tried again after my hysterectomy with similar results. So I'm hormone free and fine. But that's ME. Not everyone has the same experience.

Hi

I don't take hormones either but I was 18 months postmenopause prior to my hyst. I'm like Joselle in that I can't take HRT either. Tried it both before and after my hyst but it just doesn't agree with me. I'm doing fine without it anyway. Can live with the hot flushes and night sweats....I guess I've got used to them by now.

Good luck.
