Fistula Recovery

I'm Home! I have my supra still in and a bag attached to my leg. They had to "fillet" my bladder as well. Apparently the fistula had a track along side of it.

I am so tired. I also had a Jackson-Pratt (drainage) bag on my leg side. They removed that this a.m.

Louise, did you clamp you supra pubic to retrain your bladder? I sit down to pee but only a few drops for now. Still have some blood but that is normal considering what my poor bladder went through. Had a few big cries in the hospital, just the stress of it all and am sooo happy there are NO MORE DIAPLERS.

Thank you all for your good wishes, hugs, kind words, encouragement and support. I could have NEVER gotten through this without you all. I think this GREAT website should be brought to someone like Oprah's attention.

Going to rest,

God Bless you all

Sherry xoxo

Sherry,

Glad your home! Remember the first few days are the worst, you will be tired for a few days and then your energy will come back.

No, I didn't clamp my cath-my doctor didn't want me to try and pee at all just to give everything time to heal. When I had Bm's, a little pee would squeeze out. As soon as they took the supra out at two weeks, I could pee with no problem. Check with your dr to see if he wants you to try, but it's easier the first few days just to let the tube do all the work-that way you can REST!

Stay warm and drink lots and lots-keep filling that bag! It was more comfortable the first week to use the big bag all the time, just keep it low and use some tape on your leg so you don't pull on the supra!

I'll be thinking about you and I'll check back later!

Just came back from Dr's. Wanted him to look at supra pubic site, plus the bag was too short. He removed tons of tape from me and fixed my tube with some tape and gave me a longer extention. Now I can lie down at night and sleep instead of sitting up!

I get the supra removed Feb 24, so in a couple of weeks. Otherwise, I feel great -- no pain from the incision (probably because I still have NO feeling there since the hysterectomy November 1.

He also checked out the hole where my Jackson-Pratt was and put a clear bandage over it.

Otherwise all is well and I am feeling stronger everyday.

Thank you all,

Sherry xo

Welcome home Sherry. I'm sorry I'm late with the s. Hopefully you're doing good. I'm glad that, aside from being tired, you're feeling ok.

Remember your training and be sure to rest a whole lot, drink as instructed and walk for recovery.

Hopefully, you will now be moving on to the off-ramp, away from this Road.

I got a call from the urologist yesterday. Next Wednesday I am going in for a cystogram. They are going to fill up my bladder to double check for leaks. After all is ok, I will see him the next day and he will clamp my supra. Hopefully, by next Friday the supra will be removed and I will be peeing on my own.

Thanks to you all for your support! Here's to drier days!

Love

Sherry,

Great news! I.m sure you will be leak-free, and it's great not to be attached to anything!
