Home from fistula repair surgery

Yesterday I slept most of the day, just a lazy day. Probably catching up on some much needed rest. Went to the drugstore for a bit, just to get out. I am getting cabin fever.

Today I feel great. Don't get up as often in the night to pee anymore. It is cold here yet sunny. Everyday I get stronger. Today I just had a good cry, just because it is all over.

I put on my beige pants, no pads, no diapers and they are even a wee bit too big.

Thank you to all my sisters, I don't know what I would have done without all your support. I will continue to be around to support those who need it.

Funny what you get used to, I went to answer the phone today and grabbed for my tube from my supra, keep thinking I am hooked up!

Love

Sherry xoxo

Hi Sherry! it's nice to hear that you are on the mend . I have a vvf, stared feb 1st, tah/bso/ect was on Jan 21. I had a ct scan and ivp done thursday. I saw the gyn specialist yesterday and my gyn today, I am going to have a cystoscopy on march 7th, Hopefully they will find out exactly where the leak is , and if and what kind of surgery. Apparently is big , my gyn saw it visually 2 weeks ago. I am still leaking even with a catheter, my doc put in a larger cath today to see if that will help with the leakage.

Stay warm and well sister:

Morning, Sherry!

I am soo glad you're feeling better-I know there were times when we felt like we would NEVER get there, but it happens, doesn't it?

I had a lazy day yesterday, too. It was raining all day and cold (well, cold here is not really cold!) and I layed around and ate all day! I tried to start my new diet this week, but I'm getting so stressed about going back to work Monday-I can't do it! After all I've been through and my family's been through the past 4+ months, you'd think I wouldn't let something as unimportant as my job freak me out-I need to re-set my priorities!

Hope you have a great day!

Love & Hugs,
Louise

Louise,

Just faxed my work and informed them I would be back May 5th. I want to take the extra time to be good and healed. Also, I have a big "bald" spot on the back of my head, probably from all that anesthetic and surgery stress.

It just occured to me that I am also really period free. I have been on a rollercoaster ride since July 2002 and finally got off. Feels good just to stand outside, take a deep breath and say, I'm alive.

It's been nice to not have to go it alone.

Love Sherry xo

Sherry - thought I'd check the message board...and got all caught up on your progress. Sounds like you are doing wonderful. Here's a little advice from 3+ months post op for that crappy VVF - make sure your bowels stay cleansed. This has caused me some worry lately and I think I have it figured out. I was hoping that at 3 months, I would be feeling "normal" again, but I don't. I have noticed that when I haven't been to the bathroom (#2), I feel sooo uncomfortable - my bladder feels REALLY pressured. After I use the bathroom, I feel better. I'm back on the cleansing routine my Urologist gave me.

Louise - you also sound wonderful. You truly have been a rock for the fistula group.

Suferbabe - thanks for all your support. I can truly say you are the best hostess and very understanding of my (our) need to chat. Yours support has been wonderful.

Good luck to all the new fistula sufferers....I'll check in periodically and please note that any and all of you can send me a private message or better yet, an email, and I will respond.

Jocelyn (hansolo)

Stay warm (and dry) !

Morning!

Joce, So good to hear from you

I agree totally with you on the bowel issue. I have had a hard time trying to stay between constipation and diarreha-I take citrucel every night now and it helps.

As far as support goes, YOU were the best, you kept us all going last fall and I couldn't have made it without you!. Have you heard from Ariel at all? Please send me an e-mail if you have.

Sherry, it's great you can take that much time off-enjoy it while it lasts!

I'm going to do some serious cleaning today, so I'd better get going.

Hugs to you all!

Louise

Hey Ladies,

I've been visiting in Louisiana where they do believe in MardiGras and don't believe in cold weather. The daffodils and trees are already blooming.

So Sherry, you are FIXED!!! And TUBELESS!!! That is so wonderful. I understand about that great feeling of, "I'm alive!" Another one is, "I've survived!!!"

Han, are you doing some kind of routine cleanse? Is this because of the bladder damage? My gyn and uro said nothing about that. I drink so much coffee that it hasn't been a problem so far. BUT, if it is good and will help, count me in.

Louise, hope the return to work goes well. Just continue to take good care of yourself. This afternoon as I was closing up shop, I realized that I'm still not back to square one. STILL, I feel so much better than I did a year ago, I'm not complaining.

Wolfmouse/Jan- I'm assuming you have started a thread of your own for support down this road. My prayers are with you.

Hope all ya'll are doing well and staying warm and dry.

As Always,

MaryJulia

It was 1 month yesterday! Time sure flies. I have been having a sore belly lately, just twinges of pain. No wonder, I checked out my incision -- starting to heal but still PURPLE in spots! Being cut twice in 3 months is tough.

How long did it take you supra pubic to heal? I still have a bandaid over mine, it's getting reddish purple, looks like it is healing. I have a dr. appointment on wed with the GP (get my blood pressure checked every 6 weeks), going to have him check out the incision and supra site to make sure all is well.

Hope to see you in the hystersister's chat room sometime. Take it easy at work and get lots of rest.

Hope everyone is well, all are in my prayers.
