What's next? Granulosa noted in path report

I had a SAH/BSO on 1/30/03 due to fibroids causing problems with my kidneys and cysts on the ovaries. Just had my two week check up with the gyn/surgeon, and in reviewing the pathology report, there were some surprises. The report noted a "microscopic granulosa" in one of the ovaries that were removed. It was not related to the other cysts on the ovaries and would not have been noted on any of the preop exams or during surgery. My doc's opinion is that as it was "microscopic", and the ovary is gone, that I probably won't need further treatment, although she is checking with an oncologist to make certain.

I find that I'm having trouble reconciling all my feelings and thoughts - the idea that I might have had cancer and not known it until it was too late for treatment, gratitude that it was effectively caught and treated (even unintentionally), that there might still be some cancer somewhere in my body, and the whole idea of - what comes next?

Any information or experiences with this diagnosis would be helpful as this is an area I wasn't even thinking about earlier and haven't researched at all yet.

s Janis

You had a very rare type of ovarian tumor and it sounds as though it was caught in the earliest possible time frame.
I am happy for you. Make sure your gyn does double check with a gyn oncologist just to be certain. Please let us know.
Best wishes to you.
