Climara patch anyone?

I would like to hear experiences about using Climara (estradiol) patch.

What's your cost?
I use 0.1 mg/day patch for a week. My co-pay for a box of 4 is $35.

What's it effectivenss for you?
I had a LAVH/BSO 5 weeks ago and my dear doc put me on the patch the third day after the surgery. About 10 days later I was having mild hot flashes at night. Fearing "estorgen dominance"I that so many other hyster sisters have written about, I added natural progesterone cream. It's helped the hot flashes and sleeping.

Any other effects from you longer term users would be greatly appreciated.

Climara patch

I am 4 weeks post op and on the patch as well.
I have a lower co-pay only $10.00 and the hospital supplied me with a generic brand, I am purchasing the brand name from my local drug store.

. My doctor has me on the patches for the following reasons.
She thinks it will be easier for my body to absorb and use a lower dose of hormones and will be better because of my history of heart disease.

I am not adding progesterone, but will try adding a topical creme. I can't sleep and feel really on edge, I am on the .75 dose and started on my 2nd day post-op.

I have some itching at the site of the patch and have a heck of a time getting the adhesive off, but have found avon skin so soft oil really good at removing the old adhesive.

I would like to know more about HRT thats why I have found this site and will be questioning my doctor next week when I have my 2nd post op check-up.

Climara patch anyone?

I have been on Climara .05 since about 3 days after surgery. No hot flashes, but my internal thermostat was wobbling around. That's the lowest dosage of Climara, and it does the job for me. I don't take any other hormones. My copay is $15 for the box of 4. I also have mild skin reaction (redness, very slight itching) at site of patch. I take it off before shower, use alcohol to remove remaining adhesive, then put the new one on after shower. My family practice physician is not inclined to keep me on it very long since estrogen is no longer believed to help prevent osteoporosis. But I have been reading a lot about estrogen's positive effects on cognitive function and prevention/delay of Alzheimer's, want to get some idea what to do in the future.
