Really Sad - Prolapse Repair may have Failed

Hi ladies - I'm just writing to vent. I've been battling severe constipation since 2 months post op (acutally pre hyst too). I've been passed around and ignored by everyone but my urogyn, unfortunately she can't help with bowel probs. I wasn't having any pain until a month ago when i did a colon transit study and wasn't allowed to take any laxatives. I didn't poop for 6 days and during that time the horrible low back pain that i had prior to the hyst returned. It's been persistent since then and my urogyn gave me a new pessary, (w/o the incontinence notch since that was fixed) and it seems to be helping somewhat with the pain. I am so depressed .... that surgery was so painful and now it looks like the only way to get out of pain now is to do it all over again. I was hoping this recent pain was temporary but the pain and pressue just seems to be getting worse, just like pre hyst. What has me totally angry is that tests before the hyst pointed to a nerve problem with my colon and it was completely ignored. If it had been fixed at the time of hyst I would not be doing this again. I could kick that colorectal doc that told me there was no such thing as nerve damage to the colon. Now i have to travel out of state for a 'real' colorectal opinion and that STILL doesn't do anything for the pain. I am only 27 years old and the reason i had the surgery before was so I could keep up with my family. Now i'm right back where i started, on the couch clutching a heating pad. I'm not sure i'll be able to stop crying today.

Anyway sorry for going on and on....

s Diane. I've just recently come over to this Road Less Traveled, from the Post-op thread. I'm sorry to hear that you're going through so much right now. I know what you mean about wanting to be finished with this, once and for all! I hope you are soon on your way to a permanent recovery.

(((Diane))) you are sooo young to have to be in this situation. I really feel for you! Have you found a DR to go to for that second opinion already? I hope they are able to figure out how to help you feel better. Has anyone suggested physical therapy too? I wonder if that might help you deal with the pain, by showing you ways to move and position yourself that help?

You feel free to come here and vent any time. And be sure to tell us how things go when you see the next DR too, OK? We will be thinking of you.

Linda, I also wanted to send you s as well! You are such a source of comfort to so many - and I just read on another thread where you may be undergoing colon repair? I am keeping you in my prayers.

Really Sad - Prolapse Repair may have Failed

thanks ladies, for the encouragement. Today i really need it. The thing is the back pain is from the prolapse, no meds help only the pessary does, (at 27 a vaginal appliance is a big bummer) I do have an appt in March with a specialist for the colon problem. It's looking like i will need to have my colon removed. It's just frustrating that some stupid test brought back all my pain, and being an idiot i didn't recognize what was happening and eat some laxatives. I was just deperate to prove to them that I couldn't poop. Well i accomplished that and cut off my nose to spite my face now. All the memories of that painful recovery and having to arrange child care after the hyst is stressful. To top it off I will probably have to have the surgery IN chicago so far from home. I thought i was homefree after the hyst and my life could begin finally. Almost a year to the day i'm right back where i started. Anyway, thanks for the support sisters. I appreciate it more than i can say.
